Sparky May won this race last year before going on to greater things and the same is forecast for KENTFORD GREY LADY. An impressive winner on her racecourse debut in the bumper sphere at Taunton in February, she wasn't disgraced when upped to Listed company at Sandown when last seen in March and this looks the perfect race for her to start off over timber. Combustible Lady is respected following a couple of placed efforts, while Final Cast cannot be ruled out on her hurdling introduction.

CARDINAL ROSE is taken to make a winning debut over hurdles. He made a big impression when scoring by seven lengths on his latest outing in a 2m bumper at Southwell in April and this extra half-mile should suit. Knockalongi ran to a high standard in both bumper starts before struggling at Cheltenham in March and he could also step forward now sent hurdling, while jockey bookings suggest So Fine is the most fancied of Philip Hobbs' pair.

Aldertune has a fairly consistent profile and warrants respect with cheekpieces fitted for his return, but a race-fit VINCITORE is preferred. He left his debut performance in this code well behind when scoring gamely over C&D last month (second and fourth have both won since) and he would be 4lb worse off with Paul Nicholls' charge if this were a handicap. Phare Isle has yet to complete in two starts over fences but can take third place here if doing so.

Won More Night ran well in a hurdle race under Daniel Hiskett at Uttoxeter last time and should figure prominently back over fences today but, in receipt of a lot of weight, THE GREY ONE could have his measure. Milton Bradley's gelding has been knocking on the door recently and the form of his latest second here has taken a boost with the winner, Captain Dash, going in again since. Chilbury Hill was seven lengths behind the selection last time and clearly needs to improve.

An open looking event in which ILLYSANTACHRISTINA edges the vote. Bernard Llewellyn's mare runs her race more often than not and she looked unlucky to bump into a potentially well-handicapped sort over this trip at Ffos Las most recently. Daraz Rose is entitled to strip fitter for her fourth over fences at Towcester a couple of weeks ago (first start since June) and warrants respect, while neither Seedless nor Maid Of Silk are out of it.

Charlie Longsdon won this race last year and he appears to have another big chance with RESTEZEN D'ARMOR. He hasn't looked the most resolute at times, but there was no questioning his attitude at Bangor latest and a 7lb rise may not be enough to stop him if in the same mood. Rate Of Knots is worthy of consideration on her return although ideally wants further nowadays, while Double The Trouble will be looking to continue his form from earlier this year.

Significant market moves in this contest full of newcomers would be worth noting but NO NO CHARLIE gets the nod. This 20,000-euro purchase represents a stable that has been in cracking form recently and his half-brother, Dingat, won twice in this sphere. The beautifully-bred Asker is sure to attract plenty of support with McCoy in the plate, although it's slightly worrying that he sports blinkers, while Philip Hobbs' Go Limpopo makes up the shortlist.
