Dealing River has won his last couple of chase starts at this venue and warrants plenty of respect under champion jockey Richard Johnson, but KEPPEL ISLE edges the vote in receipt of 15lb. He made the perfect start to his chasing career at Kempton and still looks potentially well treated in this sphere despite a 7lb rise. No Ceiling is unlikely to be far away either.

STILL BELIEVING had been in cracking form before pulling up at Ffos Las and, given plenty of time to recover since, he might be worth another chance. Ballydague Lady possibly isn't the most genuine of characters, hence the fitting of cheekpieces, but she will get maximum assistance off Richard Johnson, while Mrsrobin and Emerald Rose also have bits and pieces of chances.

A decent contest for the time of year and the one who appeals most is ROLL THE DOUGH, an unbeaten hurdler who has the size and scope to do even better in this sphere. Bronco Billy has took in bumper and hurdle wins during his short career to date and must enter calculations on his chasing debut, while Singlefarmpayment and Fayette County add further spice to the race.

A bumper that has thrown up some decent performers in the past, most notably this year's Cheltenham Bumper winner Ballyandy, and this looks a competitive event on paper with some lovely National Hunt pedigrees on show. Preference is for BROOM TIP, a full-brother to unbeaten Punchestown winner Invitation Only, who makes his debut for the Tom George team and are currently in decent form. Monty's Award is from a stout family being a full-brother to Montys Meadow, while Gaelic Prince and Getaway Whiskey both appeal representing powerful stables.

WESTERN CAPE showed some decent form in novice hurdles last season until disappointing in the EBF Final at Sandown in March but the son of Westerner can be forgiven that effort and could prove to be fairly handicapped off his mark. Shanroe Santos is of interest returning from a 551-day absence having shown a solid level of ability back in 2015 over timber, while Herbert Part appeals on his first start for a while.

Smart Talk and Sparky May are two mares who have won this contest before going on to better things and TEARSOFCLEWBAY could potentially be a decent performer in her own right. The daughter of Kayf Tara won a decent bumper at Ascot beating Theatre Territory before running a solid race in Sandown's Listed bumper behind The Nipper. She was probably over the top when running at Punchestown behind Augusta Kate so can be forgiven that effort and make a winning start over timber. Nightfly showed a fair level of form in two Warwick bumpers and can give the favourite something to think about along with Passmore, who should improve over obstacles.

An extended break and a return to better ground should play to the strengths of JUST ACTING, who was pulled up after a laboured round at Leicester earlier this year. Paul Nicholls' charge cost 82,000 pounds at the sales after finishing second in an Irish point-to-point of which the form worked out reasonably well. He can land this at the expense of Monbeg Charmer, who found a Listed race too hot to handle last time out but should do better back in this company. Free Stone Hill and Dr Dunraven complete the shortlist.

BRIDGE OF SPIES looked like one to follow when hacking up in a point-to-point over the spring and the form of that has been boosted with the second winning just a week later in the same sphere. Phillip Hobbs has landed this contest twice since 2011 and connections will be hopeful that he can improve upon that record. Above Board hasn't been seen on a racecourse for over 12 months but shaped with promise when winning at Chepstow despite being friendless in the betting, while Ghost River and Greyed A complete the shortlist.
