LUCY WADHAM would be the first to admit that she is not interested in the numbers game but the Newmarket trainer invariably profits well from her small team of jumpers and is always likely to unearth a surprise package that can figure at the major venues.
The latest emergent could well be Trincomalee who notched a maiden success over hurdles at Warwick recently after some promising previous efforts and whilst many eyes were elsewhere on Valentine’s Day the shrewd trainer was seeing plenty of bookmaker kissing their readies goodbye when Martello Sky bolted up in what looked a competitive bumper at Fakenham.
The aforementioned pair may well be in action on the Sandown slopes shortly for, respectively, the Imperial Cup and the listed fillies bumper and just for good measure, Lucy gave us two horses that she hopes can prosper on the AW shortly.
The Moulton Paddock trainer has already greeted 11 winners this season and said: “It’s been a little slow but some of the older horses are getting a little bit long in the tooth and we have the likes of Trincomalee and some other younger horses who we haven’t done a lot with yet who we hope can come through and replace them.”
Lucy kindly spoke to Tony Elves of ATR about those who she hopes can help build on her current total.
