Tom Clover had to sit and suffer like the rest of his profession when racing was cancelled due to the Coronavirus in March, but he has certainly been striking whilst the iron is hot since the resumption in June.
The Kremlin House trainer, in his fourth season, had already passed his personal best of 19 winners in 2019 with 21 on the board so far and a currently amazing strike rate of 26% from only 80 runners at present.
Clover said: “We have had a nice few winners and the horses are running well and are healthy. We haven’t had a stakes winner yet and it would be nice to have a winner on the big day, but we can only keep on trying.”
With a third place in the Super Sprint at Newbury with Soldierpoy that ambition could soon be realised, and Tom kindly spoke to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his Newmarket team.
