Chantilly - Friday 23rd February 2024
Only four line up for this Class 1 event, with all four having a chance of scoring. The unbeaten SPARKLING PLENTY (2) has had some time away since her success at Marseille Borely last October in a Listed race. She can edge this from ROCK THE KASBAH (1) who has also had a break since a good third in a Group 3 race on his second start in early September. DARI RIVER (3) and MA MOME (4) will also likely make things competitive.
BABAKOOL (8) has an excellent pedigree, this son of Dubawi can be expected to make a bold show on his debut. GEORGIAN STAR (1) will make a race of things having made an encouraging start to his racing career when second at Deauville earlier this month over 1900m. ORFEO (7) has to be respected as he is from a leading stable and has claims to be in the frame. GATTOPARDO (4) can only improve from a good debut second and is in the mix.
PATRICIA (5) made a promising start to her career at Fontainebleau when she was third and will be more streetwise for that effort. She can score from NEVERCRY (2) who also ran a race full of promise at Deauville when she was third beaten around 1L over 1900m earlier this month. PEBBLESSHINYBRIGHT (4) has talent and experience and could be the best each-way option. CHASUBLE (6) is also one to pay attention too.
PATRICK SARSFIELD (1) has solid claims to make his hat-trick after a win at Pau on the PSF last time in early January. His main rival could be CHANCE (5) who was below par recently but had three decent second-placed runs before that. SAINT CLOUD (2) can also have a say in proceedings after a confidence-boosting win at Pornichet late last month over 2100m. PIETER DE HOOCH (3) heads the remainder.
CONCERTATION (2) deserves to get her first win after some solid-placed form last year. She was never out of the frame in five runs. Her main threat looks likely to be ONE MISTRESS (4) who ran well at this racecourse when third over 1200m in mid-September when last seen on turf. PARISIAN LEAH (3) can only come forward from a good fourth on debut in late January and is among the leading chances. SPEZIAL (6) makes up the shortlist.
Plenty to like about the debut run of THOMAS SHELBY (6) when a pleasing fourth back in September 2023. He can get the job done here from BROTHERS OF LILY'S (5) who was a good 2nd over 1300m at Deauville two runs ago on November 28th over 1300m. BLUE STARLIGHT (4) did put in a pleasing effort when third in a Class 2 race last time and should be on the premises. SYMMETRIC POWER (8) can improve from a credible debut run and is one to consider.
At the foot of the handicap ORPANAMA DAVIS (17) has a solid chance of success after a good run when second over 1500m in early January when last seen. The main danger could be CALY ROSAY (15) who is also at the bottom of the handicap and was only narrowly beaten when dead -heating for third at Deauville earlier this month. RED CRAZY (2) is one for the each-way backers to look at. ROYAL VATI (1) looks best of the remainder.
In an open handicap, it may pay to side with CITY OF HOPE (6) who ran well at this track when third last time on February 9th over 1600m. He is sure to give a bold show. SAMAGACE DU VIVIEN (7) was a track and trip winner at this venue before and looks like he could be the main threat after a solid fourth at Deauville when last seen 20 days ago. BLACK WALL (2) and POLMINHAC (9) are both ones to include in all of the place bet permutations.
