Verdict

Only one of the last eight winners of this has come out of a stall higher than the six box, which suggests that RESPOND has every chance. Successful at Chelmsford in March and third at Kempton over further since, Andrew Balding's gelding could be tough to peg back. Great David should appreciate the return to handicap company after being found wanting in Listed and Group 3 races last year, although a mark of 102 seems high enough. El Burhan might hit a place from a fractionally higher draw.

Expert View Verdict

Respond is a 4yo on the up and, despite reservations over the drop in trip, a forward ride from stall 2 should work in his favour. The selection, though, is EL BURHAN, who was behind Respond at Kempton but might have finished ahead of him had he not been hampered at a crucial stage. He was also a winner at this meeting 12 months ago, so has vital course experience. Clouds Hill is third choice, having returned with an improved win upped to 10f at Yarmouth. He's drawn a little high but should go well.
