If SPRINGFORTH can overcome a potentially tricky draw in stall six and get over to rail in the early part he has enough form in the book to suggest he's up to winning a claimer of this nature. Richard Fahey's colt beat the reopposing Eid Rose (fourth) when finishing second in a Ripon seller last month and will be improving for each visit to the track. Charlie Beer Punt ran well on his Brighton debut and connections should know where they stand with the selection on a line through the Ripon third Areyoutheway.

From the same draw in stall one over C&D in September '13, TINSILL ran out an impressive seven-length winner of a selling nursery off a mark of 53 and it could be that he repeats the dose. Well beaten off 3lb higher over track and trip last time, he is dropped in class for this assignment and is back on an attractive mark if bouncing back to form. Roaring Rory arrives in good nick and joins the consistent See Vermont on the shortlist.

BURTONWOOD boasts a plum draw in stall one and 7lb claimer Rowan Scott helps ease the burden of top weight. He performed admirably for second over this trip at Pontefract latest and is a winner over 6f at Ripon, so this stiff minimum trip on the Westwood should pose few problems. Ground conditions are back in his favour now and he can get the better of last year's winner Incomparable and Newcastle second Poppy In The Wind.

Dutch Artist disappointed favourite backers at York last month but the Catterick scorer won't be done improving yet and looks very well treated off 77 on his debut sixth behind Portage at the Curragh in September '14. He looks the pick of the David O'Meara pair, but preference is for SIMPLY SHINING. Richard Fahey's charge ran much better than her finishing position suggests in a better race at Newmarket last time, has ground conditions to suit and is back on her last winning mark with talented apprentice rider Adam McNamara claiming 7lb in the plate. Course winner Jacbequick is another to consider.

A mere neck separated King Of The Celts (winner) and SAINT THOMAS (second) over C&D in May last year and the latter was attempting to successfully concede 3lb to Tim Easterby's inmate, 10lb when taking into account Rachel Richardson's then 7lb claim in the plate. Easterby's charge has won three times since, all over track and trip, but as a result he must now concede a stone in weight to John Mackie's nine-year-old and perhaps he'll reverse the form at a generous price. Last-time-out-winners The Wee Barra and Yorkindred Spirit complete the shortlist.

Barwah got back to winning ways at Newcastle last month but has done all her winning on a synthetic surface and needs to prove she's as effective on turf. Course winner Mercury is on a decent mark and cannot be discounted, while similar sentiments apply to So It's War and Talent Scout. JOYFUL STAR may have to come from off the pace from his draw in stall nine but did exactly that when getting off the mark at Ayr last month and another bold showing beckons with further improvement possible.

This looks a match on paper between Sehayli and LINCOLN ROCKS and slight preference is for the latter on the basis that she lines up in receipt of weight from the William Haggas-trained runner and will potentially get first run boasting a slightly better draw. Haggas' charge ran a blinder in defeat when last sighted at Chester and warrants the utmost respect as his sole representative on the card, but he's drawn widest of all in stall 11 and may have to overcome traffic problems to win. The selection isn't blessed with an outstanding draw herself, but she could turn into the straight ahead of Sehayli and appears to have improved from two to three years judged on her comeback run at Carlisle last month. The market should tell us more about Al Hawraa on debut.

Falcon's Fire was only beaten half a lengths into third at Redcar eight days ago and with Keith Dalgleish's horses in good form, another big run from the three-year-old would come as no surprise. Indulgent is still a maiden after nine starts but produced a career-best effort when second at Ripon last time, so he joins Primobella and Rainbow Lad on the shortlist. A tentative vote is for HIGH ON LIGHT on her handicap debut, as the beautifully-bred daughter of Makfi is handed a significant step up in trip and could show any amount of improvement on a sounder surface.
