The return of last season's dual Champion Bumper hero CHAMPAGNE FEVER is sure to attract plenty of attention and Willie Mullins' tough grey looks to have been handed the perfect opportunity to make a winning start to his hurdles career. A gritty winner at Cheltenham, the 5-y-o was even better when overcoming atrocious conditions to win at the Punchestown Festival the following month and big things are expected of him this year. Fire Belt proved himself useful in bumper company and is surely better than his sole modest hurdling effort so far, while Flat winner Coilogshakeysirgin could fare best of the rest tackling timber for the first time.

Watch out for: Fire Belt (7)

Champagne Fever has the potential to go to the top of the novice hurdle ranks this season and should have little trouble in taking this race en route to better things. Ardboe Abbey and Line View can fill the places.

STAYING ARTICLE reverts to hurdles having warmed up for the jumps campaign with a good third behind Go Native on the level at Galway last month. Still very lightly raced, the 7-y-o went close to landing a big pot at Leopardstown last winter and remains open to any amount of improvement. Joxer's recent two-length second to Monskland represented an improved performance from him and he should run well again, with Blackstairmountain another obvious player at this level.

TOP MADAM looks a mare going places and made it two wins on the bounce when accounting for Thynetocatcher in a Grade 3 event over 2m4f at Down Royal earlier this month. The return to this longer trip won't faze her and she is preferred to Back In A Tic, up 7lb for landing a valuable race over this trip at Naas recently. Top-weight Shinrock Paddy isn't one to discount, with recent Limerick winner Medicinal Compound also respected.

Hard to get overly excited about many of these but SIR HARRY CASH proved himself a consistent performer over hurdles and should prove equally effective over fences. Westhaven was a well-held sixth on his recent chasing debut at Naas and is entitled to improve here, while Fernhurst Lad wasn't disgraced at Thurles recently and could find a small race in due course.

Watch out for: Westhaven (13)

This can go to Westhaven who will benefit from the experience gained on his first start over the larger obstacles last month and his weight-for-age allowance also helps tilt the scales in his favour. THUNDER AND ROSES made a really good impression when landing a Naas bumper by 11 lengths last month and he rates an exciting prospect now sent over hurdles. Dessie Hughes has enjoyed a fine start to the current campaign and his son of Presenting is fancied to continue the stable's good form. Tennis Cap has plenty to prove making his seasonal reappearance, having been a beaten favourite in each of his last four starts, but there is no doubting he possesses plenty of talent. Of the rest, Vincent Row might prove the pick.

A wide-open event but punters could do worse than side with KYLEBEG KRYSTLE. She looked back to somewhere near her best when second second at Punchestown last month, responding well to the fitting of blinkers, and a 3lb rise in the ratings for that effort may not be enough if the headgear works again. Echo Bob and Dark Prospect feature on a long list of potential dangers.

A tricky-looking handicap chase and, with the possible exception of Paddy O Dee, none can be ruled out with any great confidence. Perhaps Bangonform, who has been living up to his name this season, can resume winning ways after a bad mistake 3 out sealed his fate in the Cork National here last time. Dark Prospect and Echo Bob are also worthy of close consideration.
