It's good to see Shades Of Midnight for the first time since he won last year's Rendlesham, but the absence has to be a big concern. Geordie B was a smart novice and his sole appearance this campaign resulted in a fair Newbury fourth in November. Coded Message has been pitched in the deep end since landing a handicap at Kempton's Christmas meeting, while Sakhee's City is a player, but BLACKJACK KENTUCKY is the one with the most potential and handled testing conditions well to break his duck at Chepstow.

Dolos made a successful return to handicap company when landing a Sandown event for the second year in a row, but his new mark of 161 is such a lofty figure to defy. He still commands attention, as does Nuts Well, who completed a hat-trick at Wetherby and remains on an upward curve. The JP McManus colours are carried by a couple of interesting contenders and while Jerrysback has a touch of class, this is too short for him, whereas DALILA DU SEUIL should relish the drop in trip and might find this easier than her previous British assignments. The application of a tongue tie could help Destrier recapture last year's excellent novice form.

CILL ANNA has taken really well to hurdling and backed up her breakthrough Warwick triumph with a bloodless Wincanton victory a month later. She is still in the mares' novice hurdle at the Festival and if she completes the hat-trick here, she wouldn't be out of place in that. Eleanor Bob has also won her last two and deserves a crack at this sort of prize, but Early Morning Rain has come up short at this level three times now. Aimee De Sivola was disappointing at Newbury but is talented enough to make her presence felt.

Worthy Farm took a while to warm to his task over fences, but it all clicked at Wincanton on Boxing Day and he followed that up there a month later. This requires considerably more of him, though, and maybe BOLDMERE is a better option. Caroline Bailey's smart prospect landed a couple of handicaps, including at this circuit, and had the Towton at his mercy when capsizing at the last. Captain Chaos can't seem to string two runs together but he was on a going day when second in the Classic Chase. Chidswell certainly won't be around the 18-1 he was when springing a surprise in this last term, and Yalltari is also considered, despite his heavy Ascot defeat.

KEPAGGE made a highly impressive start to his career with David Pipe in a Chepstow bumper, but his jumping could have been better when he was then sent to Leicester for his timber bow. He still managed to justify a short price, even though he made hard work of it, and he can take the next step up the ladder here. He will need to be useful to successfully concede 7lb to the 125-rated Firak, who has progressed with each run and chased home a smart novice at Warwick. Now Is The Winter was desperately disappointing on his hurdling debut so Apple Rock may be the one for third.

It will be really interesting to see what the market makes of Aeglos, who was decent for Joseph O'Brien and starts off for Jonjo O'Neill on the back of a lengthy absence. Stonific's latest Bangor third suggested that he will be winning before too long and, on the same day, MABELA failed to cover herself in glory at Kempton. That was quite a competitive affair, though, and Dan Skelton's mare struck at Taunton before that so is worth another chance. Shanroe Tic Tec will appreciate reverting to the smaller obstacles - as Little Stevie did when a surprise second at Bangor, finishing a position in front of Stonific.

KEARNEY HILL left his previous efforts well behind him to spring a 20-1 surprise at Musselburgh's Cheltenham trials fixture. There didn't appear to be any fluke about the performance, though, and if he can run to that level again, it will take a good one to beat him. Whitechurch has shown plenty of potential between the flags and commands attention on his first start for Donald McCain, now in the Trevor Hemmings colours. Frascato Bello and Nells Son don't have that experience from the pointing field to call upon, but their trainers are more than capable of readying one at home.
