TIZI OUZOU looks the pick of the Martin Pipe-trained pair, and has every chance of returning to winning ways now that she drops back into selling company. She has been bitterly disappointing of late, but this is her level and she is a tentative choice to win this moderate opener. The veteran Governor Daniel is ultra-consistent and should be able to make the frame again, while Penny's Crown was not disgraced last time and should appreciate the drop in trip.

KELTIC LORD runs over hurdles here for the first time since July 2001, is 23lb better off in this sphere than he is over fences, and may be able to break his duck over timber in this less than competitive event. Ex-point-to-point winner Glacial Delight ran his best race under rules at Wincanton last time, and could go well again on his handicap debut despite a lengthy absence.

The well-fancied CASTLEMORE disappointed on his chasing debut but returned with an injury, so Philip Hobbs' charge is given another chance to make amends today. He had previously been in good form over hurdles, and if he can brush up on his jumping this looks like an ideal opportunity for him to open his account over the bigger obstacles. Rollo, a winner over hurdles, is brought straight back out after pulling up at Fontwell on Saturday and should give a better account today.

Dean & Dyball Handicap Chase

Uncle Mick is running well at present as his form figures show, but the handicapper may just have him in his grip and Colin Tizzard's charge may have to settle for place money today. SAFFRON SUN on the other hand has been disappointing since running a decent race in a class B event at Kempton last October, but has consequently plummeted in the handicap, and with Richard Johnson up, he could well return to winning ways.

BOYCHUK won a Killarney bumper in good style and can make a winning debut over hurdles on his first start for the Philip Hobbs stable. Timmy Murphy has chosen to ride Wardash over Oasis Blue, and this slightly inconsistent type, who has nevertheless won twice over hurdles, looks the most likely to chase the selection home. His stable companion disappointed on his racecourse bow, but may improve on this better ground.

16:40 Exeter (Class D) (4YO plus)

Harriet Half Century Handicap Hurdle

2m 3f

Winner £5,148 - 7 ran

Yourman has bounced back to form but could struggle to follow up his Fontwell victory under a 6lb penalty, especially over this shorter trip which is not likely to suit. FIRE RANGER has struggled in handicap company in the past, but has found a new lease of life, gets on really well with Richard Johnson, and will take all the beating here over what is probably her optimum trip.
