Another chance can be given to YUKON DELTA, who was a narrow second to a subsequent dual winner over C&D two starts ago. There was clearly something amiss with him last time out when he was a beaten favourite and the son of Old Vic has been given plenty of time to recover from that contest. Tokyo Javilex appeared to be coming back to form when third at Uttoxeter a couple of weeks ago and he remains well enough handicapped to go well, while Generous Helpings is also respected.

With the Paul Nicholls yard in such good form it is hard to oppose MORE BUCK'S despite his lengthy break. He showed promise when third on his chasing debut in July 2015 and it would be no surprise to see him take a step forward with another year on his back. Play The Ace has the best recent form of these but he may be a touch high in the ratings at the moment. Tanit River could turn into a useful chaser this season but may find that the selection has too many gears for him over this trip on decent ground.

In a weak race for the grade, ZARIB can overcome top weight and gain his first victory since his juvenile hurdling days. Last year the son of Azamour made his seasonal debut in a Grade 2 at Wincanton, for which he was sent off favourite, and he put in some encouraging displays in significantly stronger races than this in subsequent starts. The main danger appears to be Forever Field, who has only been narrowly defeated by the useful Totalize in his last three starts. Belize returns from a break but was an impressive winner at Southwell when last seen back in May.

Gowanauthat remains in cracking form despite his winning run coming to an end at Worcester and he looks sure to be in the firing line, but slight preference is for last year's winner TOP CAT HENRY. He posted a number of solid efforts following his comfortable victory in this race 12 months ago and connections will be hoping that he can kick off the new campaign with a similarly fast start. Antony also merits consideration on his return.

AFFAIRE D'HONNEUR has earned a rating of 133 with efforts such as his fourth-placed finish in last season's Betfair Hurdle and, although he clearly has his issues at the start, it will be disappointing if he doesn't open his account here. Graasten might appeal most for forecast punters having made a promising start to his hurdling career at Plumpton, while Shadow Blue bombed out last time but has place claims on the pick of his form.

16:40 Fontwell (Class 5) (4YO plus)

UNIFY fairly bolted up at Southwell on Tuesday and a 7lb penalty probably won't be enough to anchor her if arriving in the same mood. Highbury High also arrives in winning form, however, and Jordan Canavan's 10lb claims helps to ease his burden of top weight. He is the obvious danger, while Carobello is well treated on his best form and could prove best of the remaining trio.

VANCOUVER made a pleasing start to his racing career when runner-up at Southwell and, with normal improvement expected, he looks sure to mount a bold bid. Tinted Rose displayed a fair level of ability in two starts earlier this year and warrants respect on her return to action, while Mistress Massini and So She Says are interesting newcomers representing the stables that have won the last three renewals between them.
