ALLART, fifth in a red-hot renewal of last year's Supreme Novices' Hurdle, warmed to his task as the race developed when taking the Noel Chase on his fences debut at Ascot and rates as the one to beat here. He readily accounted for some useful rivals when successfully pitched straight in at Grade 2 level and could prove to be a really smart operator in this sphere. Silver Hallmark gave Fiddlerontheroof a scare at Exeter last time, but could have a bit to find considering that rival had to play second fiddle to the selection at Ascot. Therefore, the main threat could be Marown, who opened his account over the larger obstacles at Ayr in December and that form received a timely boost when the second impressed at Hereford recently.

LLANDINABO LAD gave the talented My Drogo most to think about in the Kennel Gate at Ascot last month and the course winner is backed to regain the winning thread here with conditions in his favour. He comfortably accounted for nearest challenger Minella Drama at Bangor earlier in the season and despite that rival since notching up back-to-back victories, Donald McCain's six-year-old may have to settle for a supporting role here. The hat-trick seeking Nada To Prada secured Listed glory here last time and could continue on her upward curve, while Faivoir got back on track when an easy winner at Ludlow and has some smart form in the book.

HIJACK was doing his best work late in the day when running on for third over 2m3f here last time and the step up to three miles could do the trick here as Nicky Henderson's six-year-old returns to the Lancashire track off the same rating. Chef D'Oeuvre is interesting reverting to hurdles having picked up a silver medal over fences last month and the veteran has a good record here. Clyne wasn't completely beaten off at the time of his Chepstow fall and is another who has smart form at this venue, while Milvale and Brummie Boys are lurking dangerously at the foot of the handicap.

ROYALE PAGAILLE is fancied to give weight and a beating to these rivals. He has impressed on both outings so far this season, building on his extended 2m5f course success when winning readily over 3m on his handicap debut at Kempton last month, and a 16lb hike might not be enough to anchor the seven-year-old, who holds an entry in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Sam Brown made a pleasing reappearance when third behind subsequent Grade 2 scorer Imperial Aura at Carlisle in November and he warrants plenty of respect equipped with a first-time tongue-tie on his handicap bow. Sam's Adventure, an impressive course-and-distance winner on his latest outing, adds further spice to the race.

It's brilliant to see the return of dual Champion Hurdle scorer BUVEUR D'AIR, who has been absent since suffering a nasty injury in the 2019 Fighting Fifth, and he can book his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival with a heartwarming comeback success. Nicky Henderson has spoke in glowing terms about the 10-year-old recently and, receiving weight off his two rivals this afternoon, he is difficult to oppose. Last year's winner Ballyandy has been running consistently well so far this season and should be closest on hand to take advantage should the favourite misfire. Navajo Pass won impressively at Musselburgh last time but this is a whole different ball game.

PROTEK DES FLOS has proven his liking for testing conditions by winning off the same mark at Kelso last February and the drop back to 2m is unlikely to be an issue for Ben Haslam's gelding. Black Pirate is entitled to step forward from his chasing debut when third at Newcastle, while Reivers Lad commands respect despite this being his first start since December 2018.

IMPERIAL ACOLYTE won in comfortable fashion when last seen at Ffos Las in November and the seven-year-old is taken to handle a 10lb rise from the handicapper with the likelihood of further improvement to come over the smaller obstacles. Fearless warrants plenty of respect on his handicap debut, having gained a fair amount of experience in novice company, and he can enter calculations along with Jayaaah.
