Providing she handles the testing conditions, SOCIETY PEARL should be tough to beat in the opener. Charlie Hills' inmate shaped with plenty of promise when beaten a length and a half into fourth in a 7f Doncaster maiden on her racecourse debut in July and that form has worked out very well. That experience and this extra furlong should see her with more to offer today. If the heavy ground doesn't prove to her liking, Dixie Sky could be the one to capitalise having shaped as though a step up to 1m would suit in her two efforts on good ground over shorter. Northern Star has also shown ability in her two outings to date while market support for David Brown's newcomer, Hollowina, would have to be taken seriously.

Polish World continues to slide down the handicap and is beginning to look well treated now, while TAKE COVER is very interesting on his turf debut having won all three starts on Southwell's fibresand and he is open to further progress. He clearly relishes that deep artificial surface so today's testing conditions could well be to his liking and another victory would come as no surprise. Things didn't go to plan for Ayr winner Dutch Heritage over 7f at Newcastle latest but his best form has come over this trip and he doesn't mind some cut in the ground, while Hopes N Dreams went close over this C&D latest but she continues to rise in the weights.

Face The Problem has filled the runner-up spot on all three starts since scoring ar Doncaster last month and should be thereabouts again, but a rising handicap mark makes his task no easier. Of more appeal is SHOLAAN, who ran a big race front the front off this mark in the Ayr Gold Cup last week before fading into fourth in the final furlong. The muddy conditions clearly weren't a problem and that first outing since June should have blown away the cobwebs, while this drop in trip may also help. Kyleakin Lass just got the better of Cheveton to score on soft ground at Ffos Lass earlier in the month but the latter has since filled the runner-up berth in the Bronze Cup at Ayr and could turn the tables now reopposing on 1lb better terms.

This represents a drop in class for OOJOOBA following her Listed second to Opera Girl on soft ground at Salisbury last month and she can go one better today. Roger Varian's charge was raised 8lb for that effort but given that the first and third have won well since, that form looks rock solid and the lightly-raced filly could have more to offer. Dancing Primo seems to go on any ground and will be popular following two comfortable 1m4f wins, but a 10lb hike for her latest win doesn't help and she has done all of her winning over that distance. With that in mind, the biggest threat may be Lady Loch, who wasn't beaten far off this mark in a higher grade at Ascot in July and she likes to get her toe in.

Scrapper Smith stayed on well once the gaps appeared when a one-length third off this mark in a Listed handicap (1m5f) at Chester latest but he is on a long losing run and it looks worth giving SURAJ another chance. Following a facile 1m7f win at Doncaster in June, he was beaten nearly ten lengths when sent off favourite for a Listed handicap at York off his revised mark in July, but the subsequent exploits of the first and second in Group company make that a effort better than it looked at the time. Michael Bell's colt has won on soft ground and the break may have done him some good. Party Line failed in her hat-trick bid over 1m4f off the same mark latest but has shaped as though this step up in trip could unlock further improvement and she warrants consideration.

Despite wandering around in the straight and looking very green, GABRIAL THE MASTER stayed on well for a neck second over an extended 7f at Chester earlier in the month and should be much wiser for that experience now. The third home boosted the form with an authoritative victory last weekend and Richard Fahey's charge can deliver on that debut promise today, possibly at the main expense of his stablemate, Gabrial The Thug. He made significant late progress when runner-up over 7f first time out and should relish this extra furlong. Ennistown hasn't looked the most straightforward in his two starts to date but cannot be ruled out for the Godolphin operation.

The step up to 1m2f clearly didn't help Prince Of Sorrento when last at Ascot in July and he could be worth another chance on his return from a break. He had won four (three over 1m) of his previous six starts, including a victory on heavy ground at Yarmouth, and is open to further progress at this distance. However, the safer option appears to be ANTON CHIGURH, who relished the step up to this trip when running out an easy winner in the mud at Carlisle latest and there could be plenty more to come from him over 1m. The fourth has won since and a 7lb rise may not be enough to halt Tom Dascombe's representative. C&D winner Sam Sharp (also engaged to run at Newmarket on Friday) was back in the winner's enclosure at Leicester last time out and, off a 3lb higher mark, he completes the shortlist.
