WEE CHARLIE CASTLE hasn't been at his best for some time now but has shown sparks of encouragement with the addition of blinkers on his three latest outings and the Sinndar gelding is now rated 5lb lower than when successful over this C&D in November last year. Recalcitrant has been threatening to regain the winning thread in recent months and must be feared, while Alfie Tupper and Blu Manruna are also respected on the back of creditable placed efforts.

SPIRITOFTHESTORM can be considered a shade unfortunate having been halted in her run off the home bend before eventually being beaten only a short-head over this C&D earlier in the month and she's taken to make amends today. Marco Botti boasts a smart record at this venue and his Montefiore is among the leading dangers, along with Richard Hannon's Melt and the interesting Irish challenger Sassy Gal, for whom the booking of Jamie Spencer may prove significant.

CAPANIA, well held on her only start for John Hills last term, made a respectable reappearance when third at Warwick in August and although a little flat on her all-weather bow at Lingfield last month, she looks to have been given a chance by the assessor on her handicap debut this afternoon. Greenwood has some fair form in the book and is beginning to look very nicely treated on the pick of his early season efforts, but Swiper Hill is feared most.

This isn't going to take a great deal of winning and it could be worth siding with the only newcomer in the field, DIRICULOUS, who's closely related to a number of sprint winners, including Our Fred, a dual 5f winner at three. Jamie Spencer takes the ride and a big debut performance would come as no surprise. Compulsion hinted at ability on her racecourse bow but has been well held in her two most recent starts, so Hughie Morrison's Irish acquisition Realt Na Mara is considered the principal threat.

Musical Script has been running really well in defeat of late but his handicap mark is creeping back up as a result and he may have to settle for a supporting role once again. Macademy Royal made a pleasing return to action and should come on for that run, but slight preference is for ISHIBEE, who won over C&D earlier in the month and shaped like a return to this trip would suit when staying on into third over the minimum at Brighton eleven days ago.

SPICE GARDENS left her two previous efforts well behind when third in a 6f Redcar maiden earlier in the month and she will not need much further improvement in order to open her account this afternoon. Foreland Sands and Royal Envoy are also worthy of places on the short-list.

GAMESTERS LADY was well beaten in three starts last term and appeared to have totally gone off the boil, but she rewarded her connections' patience with a highly encouraging reappearance run at Wolverhampton earlier this month and that first outing for well over a year is bound to have done her the power of good. Master At Arms showed a liking for this surface when third on his all-weather bow over C&D earlier in the month and must be feared, but Ndola could give the selection most to worry about.
