German trainer Christian Von Der Recke boasts a fine strike rate on his forays in the UK and he could add to his tally here with PEREDUR, a multiple Flat winner back home and a very easy winner of the Belgian St Leger this month. The colt is sure to be well schooled for his hurdling debut and the jockey booking catches the eye. Barney Curley's Irish import, Jeu De Roseau, was third on his hurdling bow and looks the danger, while Sam Lord looks a progressive sort and shouldn't be far away.

John Diamond won well over C&D on his chasing bow but was a distant fifth last time off today's mark and needs to improve, while Sir Laughalot has some decent form over hurdles but tackles the bigger obstacles for the first time. Lake Imperial looks flattered by his form figures over fences but can't be ruled out. HIGHLAND CHIEF scored with ease over this trip at Plumpton last time and, despite carrying a 7lb penalty, might be capable of following up.

Christian Von Der Recke will be hoping to complete a double with Swordsman, who has some excellent Flat form here, in Germany and France but may have his work cut out on his hurdling debut. Letalus also has winning Flat form in Germany but is progressing nicely in the UK over hurdles. Preference, however, is for MEXICAN BOB, a very impressive maiden hurdle winner over 2m at Lingfield this month, on just his third start. There should be more to come.

Worcester chase winner New Time scored over hurdles at Wincanton almost three weeks ago but might have too much weight now. Mandingo Chief seems to have had his confidence boosted by a couple of outings over hurdles and has claims here on his recent Wetherby second. Exeter beginners' chase winner Otantique has much more to do now, but Professor Hegarty, who scored at Hereford ten days ago, has claims despite a 7lb penalty. However, it's worth taking a chance on L'OISEAU, a very easy winner over 2m 6f at Fontwell this month and capable of defying a 10lb rise in the weights if reproducing that form.

It's taken CITY STREETS a while to get the hang of things, but the penny appears to have dropped and, despite a slipping saddle, he opened his account over C&D this month. With only 3lb more to carry here, he should be capable of following up. Menelaus has been knocking on the door off similar marks and looks the danger, but Pearly Star, who scored a double at the start of the year, and Worcester winner Ballyboley look to have plenty of weight now. Drumbeater should be monitored for support in the betting on his second outing since a long layoff.

Dunlea Dancer is running well but may need some help from the handicapper, while Premier Hope was a very easy winner at Exeter in April but is 13lb worse off now and may need the run. The David Pipe pair, Noble Sham and Time Bandit, haven't been seen for more than two years but won their last outings and can't be ruled out. Preference, however, is for SCOTS DRAGOON, who returned from a summer break to open his account in some style in a conditional jockeys' race at Hereford. This is tougher but he escapes a penalty and should be open to further improvement.
