Several of these have been struggling to find their form of late and with that in mind, BOOK OF LIFE and Thats My Boy Luke are suggested as the pair to focus on. The latter hinted at a revival when third over C&D last month and is notable off 1lb lower. However, the former has shown more consistency this season and won't need to raise his game by much to gain a deserved first win of the campaign. Approaching Dawn and King Sharja are the pick of the remainder.
BOOK OF LIFE has been running consistently well and was beaten only one and a quarter lengths at Newcastle last time, and is just 2lb higher here. With a close third at Wolverhampton before that, he remains on a competitive mark and can go well again. Thats My Boy Luke was closer to his best when third here last time and, 10lb below his last winning mark, can build on that effort. King Sharja was another easily held by the winner when third at Southwell last time but is also on a competitive mark and could have more to offer back over a mile.

EXTRAGALACTIC was a promising second on his debut in a novice event at Yarmouth 13 days ago and the relatively quick reappearance suggests connections have him primed for another bold showing. The son of Space Traveller ran green on that occasion but is entitled to be build on the performance. Vegasmile was a short-priced favourite when he was introduced here last month and also looks the type to get better with experience. The attractively-bred newcomer Showcasing Glory is the most intriguing of the rest.
EXTRAGALACTIC was very promising when beaten only a head at Yarmouth on debut and, having shown he knows his job, can open his account at the second time of asking for the in-form William Haggas. Lucky Vega colt Vegasmile didn't live up to market expectation when very well backed but was not disgraced when fourth here on debut and, with natural improvement likely for his top juvenile yard, can leave that form behind. Hope Of Acklam improved when stepped up from 6f to 7f at Redcar last time and, having been beaten only a neck, remains open to further progress.

Needin' U is the only one to have been successful in a nursery so far and commands respect on that basis. His experience over C&D is also a positive factor and he must be taken seriously. However, STAR PEOPLE, who represents the same owners, has dropped several hints that he can win races and, as a more wily character, he gets the vote as the pick of the bunch. Royal Strike and Bellatina are others to monitor in the betting.
STAR PEOPLE has been knocking on the door with form figures of three seconds a third in his last four starts and, despite a 3lb rise for finishing second by half-a-length at Ripon, can open his account. Needin' U improved markedly when settling better on handicap debut, scoring by two and a half lengths here, and can go well again despite a hefty 9lb rise. Royal Strike has shown a fair level of ability in his three starts for Karl Burke, including when runner-up at Hamilton last time and, now handicapping, could have more to offer.

However, the eight-year-old has yet to prove as effective in two outings at this venue and preference is for Beverley runner-up STYLE OF LIFE. BLACK STORM gained compensation for some creditable efforts in defeat when landing the spoils at Catterick 26 days ago. That was just his second outing in blinkers and there could be further glory on the cards. Re-opposing third Vince Le Prince subsequently hit the frame over C&D and he may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of four-time track winner Monhammer.
BLACK STORM returned to winning ways when scoring by more than a length at Catterick last time and, in this good form, and can go well again from a 4lb higher mark. Masaban ran to form when third beaten two lengths over 6f at Redcar last time and, back up in trip, is generally consistent and can go close again from the same mark. Jim Goldie will be looking for a better run from York sixth Trojan Sun and as a C&D winner he warrants consideration. Sax Appeal went off too quickly at Southwell and failed to last home but that was a better race and he should be judged on his length third at Newcastle, form which would give him every chance. BOXING GREAT arrives from Ireland after narrow wins at Leopardstown and Down Royal, but he can idle in front and may have more to offer if produced last minute.
BOXING GREAT is thriving and completed a double when scoring at Down Royal last time. Only 4lb higher, he can complete the hat-trick in his current mood despite the revised mark. Wahraan is a useful stayer on the Flat and was only narrowly denied at Galway two starts ago. Although 7lb higher here, he can go well if building on his latest return to this sphere. Jim Goldie has won two of the last six runnings of this and any market support for Fear And Fast, having his first start since wind surgery, would be of interest. So Grateful failed to fire here last month but finished second on his previous three starts suggesting he has chances of a top-three finish, yet SIXCOR gets the nod. A ten-time winner including last time out at Wolverhampton, he is twice a C&D winner and looks well-drawn in the 11 stall.
SIXCOR returned to form when scoring by a half-a-length at Wolverhampton last time and, only 3lb higher, has a good chance if building on that back on turf. He also tends to go well here, with a couple of C&D successes. Ski Angel was beaten only three quarters of a length when returning to form here last time and, just 1lb higher, can go well again at a track where she goes very well. Doralee has been running to a fair level and, on the same mark after finishing three lengths behind at Wolverhampton last time, should go close again.
