Expert Analysis
A Group 2 that turned out quite weak with three non-runners and a few fancied horses not running their races, the well-backed favourite did not need to be at his best to land a comfortable victory. The pace was steady and the first two were always up close.
QUDDWAH, who goes well fresh and has a tremendous record outside of Group 1 company, tracked a sedate pace and always looked to have this race in hand. He hit the front entering the final furlong and looked to have more to give if required. Tougher assignments await, but he is particularly likeable and consistent type.
AUDIENCE has run well in races like this all season, albeit typically getting left to his own devices setting a steady pace. Seven furlongs seems to suit him better than a mile.
CHARLES FORT seemed to back up his return effort in the Royal Whip, but neither this nor that run appeals as solid form.
ISAAC NEWTON won the obvious trial for this, the Desmond Stakes, but was not at his best after dwelling the stalls and making an early move to press the lead. He is capable on his day but has been inconsistent.
COWARDOFTHECOUNTY ran his race but was up against it in this grade.
PRINCESS CHILD was out of her depth, even in this weakened field, but would prefer slower ground.
EXPANDED looked to go wrong entering the straight and was pulled up.
