ROIBEARD defied the market to provide Evan Daly with his first career winner last week for Ger Lyons, and that young rider keeps the mount for what appears to be an excellent opportunity to follow up. Jim Bolger has won this for the last two years, and more is clearly expected from Brontide (engaged to run at Leopardstown yesterday) at some stage, while Braver The Bull has always shaped as though he might be more suited to handicaps, and an opening mark of 73 looks workable for team Harrington. Landsman and Sir Run Run look to have a bit to find to be involved.

The handicapper has not overreacted to FIT FOR FUNCTION's victory at Leopardstown last month, and he could follow up off 7lb higher for Joseph Murphy. The three-year-old did that with more in hand than the small winning distance suggested, and it would be no surprise to witness another bold bid. Aspar is in fine form of late but did need every inch of this trip to get home at Naas a fortnight ago, while Barron's Lad is closely linked with him on all known form this season and perhaps the market expectations of those two will provide a key as to how this event will pan out. Intense Stylist looks best of the remainder.

On paper this should be a two-horse race between GISELLE'S CHARM and Glenamoy Lad, with the former taken to build on an encouraging second at Fairyhouse last month to take this ahead of the more exposed latter. The daughter of Casamento was strong in the market beforehand on that day, and clearly learnt a lot from her Cork debut just a few weeks previously. She beat the third comfortably and further improvement can see her take this. Glenamoy Lad was last seen competing in a Group 2, but she has had her chances in maidens before and might not be open to quite as much improvement. Trevanna could be the one to chase them home.

CATWILLDO won this last year off 6lb higher, and with promising claimer Killian Leonard on board, the six-year-old looks sure to mount a bold bid. She shaped like a return to form was imminent when second at Bellewstown a week ago when well backed, and a repeat of that could see the mare go one better. Nine-year-old Sassaway isn't quite the animal that she once was, but has looked more like her old self in recent weeks, including most recently at Fairyhouse last month. Slight improvement on that would see her mount a bold bid, with Your Pal Tal and Acroleina also among the list of likely contenders.

In a wide-open race, marginal preference is for ALONG THE SHORE, who can overcome top weight having found only an in-form rival too good in a similar race at Fairyhouse at the end of last month. The consistent Black Label should be thereabouts once again, while similar comments also apply to Ondamoura. The shortlist is completed by the likes of Byron Beauty, Pat Harkin and Sea Bank.

The first-time blinkers can bring about the required improvement in LOOK CLOSER to see the three-year-old get his head in front for the first time. The rest with experience will need to improve to be successful tonight, especially as there are some well-bred newcomers in the field. Newcross, a stablemate of the selection, is a half-brother to Fascinating Rock, while Seville Star cost connections 105,000 euro as a yearling and he is from the family of Irish Oaks winner Give Thanks.

The unexposed ELUSIVE HEIGHTS chased home Long Island Sound two starts ago and that rival went on to finish third to Hawkbill in the Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot next time. Since then the Ger Lyons representative has since run in a valuable handicap at the Curragh, where he was staying on well prior to being brought down. Ibergman carries a 5lb penalty for her win at Roscommon on Monday and she could prove to be one of the main dangers, along with Marshall Jennings.
