Jimmy The Jetplane looks sure to be thereabouts but the string of second-placed finishes against his name is an obvious concern, especially as he looked to have the race in safe keeping last time out only to be caught just yards from the line. COURT DISMISSED split a useful pair of rivals in open company last time out and he could take advantage of his light weight today. Tickenwolf would appear to have the upper hand on Western Jo.

Newsworthy certainly has ability but he does not appear to be the most reliable of geldings and he needs to bounce back from a moderate performance at Worcester last time. SPIRIT OF KAYF confirmed the promise he showed in bumpers last year with an impressive win over hurdles last month, where he beat a useful Flat recruit. Others to note are Edmund and Shanroe In Milan.

A chance can be taken with WOLF SWORD, who may need the run on his seasonal return but the seven-year-old was just getting his act together over fences towards the end of last season. When last seen the son of Flemensfirth only found a subsequent dual winner too good for him in a similar event at Carlisle back in May. Volvalien made a promising debut for this yard earlier in the month and he is entitled to improve for that, while Nefyn Bay should put in his usual solid performance.

AUSTRALASIA easily accounted for a subsequent winner when successful at Hexham last month and an 8lb rise for that win may not be enough to stop this progressive six-year-old from securing a hat-trick this afternoon. Doing Fine did not go on from a promising seasonal debut during his last campaign but the switch to Neil Mullholland may spark a change in fortunes for the son of Presenting. Bellaney Knight, Point The Way and Wyfield Rose also make plenty of appeal in a wide-open contest.

ROYALE KNIGHT has won this race for the last two seasons and warmed up for this with a respectable effort in a Hexham handicap hurdle earlier in the month. Dr Richard Newland will more than likely have his eyes set on a return to Aintree where the son of King's Theatre finished sixth in 2015 Grand National before missing the cut in this year's renewal. Jennys Surprise is an interesting contender having looked a real staying type last season and is a threat if handling these quicker conditions, while Ready Token has been impressive on his last two outings at Warwick and bids to get the hat-trick up here.

G'DAY AUSSIE comes into this having shown form that is arguably better than this level over timber and gets a huge weight allowance being a three-year-old which gives him a big advantage over his rivals. The first-time cheekpieces should also bring about further improvement. Polarbrook ended last season with a decent third at Wetherby and is a player on that performance, while Notebook merits respect making his debut for a new yard.

VIC'S LAST STAND has been in excellent form over the summer months having improved 22lb since the end of July and the daughter of Old Vic can get back to winning ways after her unbeaten streak came to a halt at Market Rasen last time. Ethelwyn possesses ability but appeals more for place rather than win purposes, while any market support for Discoverie should be noted with Kenneth Slack's charge returning to hurdling after a successful time over fences in the spring.
