Trainer says

Align The Stars will run in the mile and six furlong handicap on Saturday that we won two years ago. Obviously, he is coming into this off the back of winning the Northumberland Pale and that form got a nice boost at Ascot on Friday when Kirchner won. That was a special race to win and his two win this year have been over two miles on the All-Weather, but he ran well over a mile and six at the Guineas meeting and he’s obviously won over this course and distance. I’m not too concerned about going back to a mile and six on the turf and he’s racing off 101 now but three of his four runs this year have been bang up to that mark.

She is a filly who had a lot of issues, and I bought her from a Horses-In-Training Sale for a grand. She needed her first couple of runs of the year, but she was very impressive at Wolverhampton last week over seven furlongs. If she could sneak into the seven-furlong handicap on Wednesday, I’d be hopeful of a good run.

Trainer says

We are very much looking forward to running him in the Goodwood Cup but there will be a small check on the ground on Tuesday morning. We have said for some time that we would try and avoid very fast ground. The Goodwood Cup is on the first day of the meeting and they won’t want the ground to be too quick because they will struggle to keep on top of it for the rest of the week. I thought he ran a nice race on his comeback run and was entitled to need the run after a long time off with an injury. He did what was required really in the Coral Marathon there at Sandown at the beginning of the month. Billy (Loughnane) was quite adamant that he would be better in a better race with a stronger pace rather than having to make his own running and you’re pretty well guaranteed a decent pace to aim at with Trawlerman in the race. He’s unproven at two miles at Group 1 level but I think we are pretty hopeful he’ll stay and, if anything, it could bring the best out of him. It’s a big ask going into the race taking on Trawlerman and Scandinavia who are clearly two top class stayers, but our horse was placed in two Derbies and he’s got the mile and a half class that neither of them has. If he stays and handles the ground then, hopefully he’ll run a big race.

I have put him in the two and a half miler, and he has been a bit disappointing this year. He ran a good race in the mile and six race at Newmarket on Guineas weekend and at that point I thought he would be showing up in all the good mile and six handicaps this year, but he’s been disappointing a couple of times since. It’s a bit leftfield but I’m thinking about trying him over the marathon trip. He’s a well-handicapped horse on his best form but stamina would be a big query.

Trainer says

He ran a big race in the Northumberland Vase consolation to find third and hit the line well that day and also ran well in the Chester Cup consolation over two mile and two furlongs. The marathon trip wouldn’t be a given, but he’s got plenty of form at two mile and little bit beyond and the two and a half miler is a unique contest. He might just have the stamina for it.

Trainer says

Ancient Egypt obviously nearly won the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris, but I didn’t enter him in the Gordon Stakes. It was a little bit tempting, but I think having been a close second in a Group 2 and a Group 1 in his last two starts that he deserves to dine at a slightly higher table than that now. I think his next run will be in the middle of August, and it will either be in the Christophe Clement at Saratoga or the Voltigeur at York. At the moment we are probably leaning towards going Stateside with him. His recent form would be enough to go very close in that Grade 1 and you’d like to think a mile and a half on fast ground over there would suit him well - that’s the way we’re leaning at the moment.

He won a mile and a quarter handicap at Newmarket on Guineas weekend very impressively and the form has worked out well since He ran a solid race from a bad draw at Royal Ascot and at the July meeting I thought he travelled there like he was going to win two out but he sort of hung left under pressure and looked like he was felling the ground a bit. In an ideal world I think he’d probably want slightly easier ground that he is going to get a Goodwood but there aren’t a huge number of places to take him. If the ground wasn’t too lively, It would be no shock to see him bounce back and he’ll run in the mile and a quarter three-year-old handicap on Thursday.

Finished fifth, beaten 10 ½ lengths, to Superior Choice in the Listed Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton (1m 3f) latest start.

Trainer says

She has a good little spell through the sort of late Spring/early Summer and won three on the bounce culminating at Epsom on Derby Day. She’s another that probably wants a little bit more ease in the ground and it was very testing at Epsom on Derby Day, and she seems to relish that. The ground may be a little lively for her, but she’ll probably run in either the mile and a quarter fillies’ handicap or the mile and three handicap.

Returned to winning form with a three quarter length success from Yafreh at Thirsk (1m 4f) off a mark of 74 at the beginning of July and added to that success at Newmarket ten days later when scoring by half a length, from First Officer off a mark of 77.

Trainer says

He’s a funny horse and I told the owners that he would get better when I gelded him and when I put headgear on him and he proceeded to get worse for both those things. Now I have taken the headgear back off again he’s won his last two. He still looks a bit quirky but fair play to him; he’s won his last two. The fact that he doesn’t win by much means the handicapper hasn’t been able to do a lot with him. He’ll probably run in the mile and a half race on Wednesday. It looks really a Group racer rather than a handicap and it is a big step up in class for him, but he’s going there off the back of a couple of wins.

He is a lightly raced three-year-old and just got touched off at Pontefract and then ran a real nice race at Doncaster in a very hot mile and a half novice doing all his best work late on. I think he’s well handicapped, but I think you’ll probably see the best of him when he goes a mile and six. Hopefully, he’ll run a nice race on Wednesday, and he could be a nice horse for the Melrose Handicap at York.

She is a filly that had three runs through the winter and finished second, first and second then picked up an injury after her latest run at Southwell. She’s been off a long time, and it’s been a bit of a rush to get her there but we’re happy that she is ready to run. I’m sure she will step forward a little bit for the run, but I would like to think she’ll prove better than her mark in time. Whether she’s quite 100% for Tuesday or not, time will tell.

Trainer says

She is another filly that’s had a good season and won four times. For all she’s crept up the weights a little, but the handicapper never been able to get too carried away with her as she’s never won by far. Ideally, I would have like to run over seven furlongs around a bend. That’s the ideal setup as she won three over seven at Catterick. Frustratingly, it doesn’t look like she get in the seven-furlong handicap and we will have to run her in the six furlong race on Wednesday.

Trainer says

She was obviously a great third in the 1000 Guineas, and you can put a line through the Epsom run because she hates soft ground. I was kicking myself a bit as the Falmouth hadn’t really been the plan until the last minute. We had been thinking more that she go to the Pretty Polly after Epsom but rerouted her to Newmarket and in hindsight, that was a mistake. I think she wants to go up in trip now and the Nassau Stakes would be very ambitious after the back of such a bad run. It looks like Aidan has five of the nine runners and there is a danger it could break up into a four or five runner race. If it did, we might chance our arm, and I think up in trip with Jason (Hart) back on board they are both positives. She’s clearly a high-class filly but she’s got a bad run to bounce back from - there’s no getting away from that.

He ran well at Musselburgh in his first start of the year and has been a bit disappointing at Newmarket and Ascot since. He has been gelded and I think he definitely needed that. Rowan (Scott) came in and had a sit on him on Wednesday and he galloped well. I think the gelding will have helped him, and we ran him in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood last year, so we have always thought of him as a talented horse. I think the gelding has straightened him out it wouldn’t be a shock to see him run a big race in the mile handicap on Thursday.

The form of both of her Doncaster runs has worked out very well. She was a little bit disappointing at Chester, but I think you can forgive any horse a bad run at Chester. The horse she beat at Doncaster absolutely hacked up at York on Friday night and if you put a line through her Chester run then 76 might be a handy enough mark.

She is a filly who showed quite a bit of speed early on and I liked her and ran her in a five-furlong novice at the Guineas meeting. She came back lame from that and had to have some time off so we haven’t seen her since. If there was a six-furlong maiden that would have suited her but she’s going to have to go seven. On the dam’s side of her pedigree that shouldn’t be an issue and she’s a filly we like early on, so it wouldn’t be a shock if she ran a nice race.

He will go for the seven-furlong maiden on Saturday. He ran a lovely race on his debut at Beverley when finishing second to one of Karl Burke’s that already had a run and they pulled a long way clear of the third. He’s a horse we’ve always liked, and I thought that off the back of his debut he was an obvious one for this race.

Highland Girl will probably go for the seven-furlong fillies’ maiden on Thursday. She is from a family that tend to improve with age and distance, and she is probably one for the future, but her work has been good enough and we’re looking to start there.

Obviously, he ran a blinder in the Superlative, and I was very happy with him. He’s got better with every start. He has been busy and has been to Ascot and Newmarket and now Goodwood, but he’s been taking his races well.

He ran a really nice race on his debut at Pontefract, and we stepped him up to seven furlongs at Epsom and he didn’t look to stay. We are bringing back to six furlongs in the maiden on Tuesday and will let him take his chance, but he might be better off in nurseries.

He won his maiden nicely at Lingfield and then ran down the field in the Chesham. There was probably no disgrace in that as he is a big horse, and he will be better when he gets a mile He has some class and it would be no surprise to see him run a good race in the seven-furlong nursery.
