James Fanshawe, like so many trainers, has been thwarted by the fast ground that has prevailed this summer, but patience has always been one of his virtues with his horses and the benefits can be repeated this autumn for the master of Pegasus Stables.
The past fortnight has seen back in a familiar winning groove with five winners from 28 runners and a very bold run from stable star Kind Of Blue when runner-up to Big Mojo on the lightning-fast ground in the Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup at Haydock which resulted in a new course record.
That performance augurs well as he heads for his main target which is the Group 1 Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot on October 18 which he won in 2024 on soft ground.
Fanshawe has notched up 36 winners so far and £714,475 in prize money so far and with a team of relatively fresh horses for the autumn fayre could quite easily pass the £1 million prize money barrier again.
James kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his Newmarket team.
