Epictetus is by no means the horse he was as a two-year-old, but Jamie Osborne's gelding still proved he has the ability to operate off a fair mark at Epsom and will probably be the biggest threat to unexposed three-year-old BINTKNIGHT. Harry Charlton's filly won a maiden over C&D before filling the runner-up spot on her handicap bow. The winner did no harm to the form when second at Redcar next time, so the daughter of Pinatubo is expected to gain compensation. Percival is next best.
This should be another good opportunity for ZAFAAN, who came up short in a handicap having been successful at this level the start prior. He does have to give weight away as a result but most of these have something to prove, not least at the trip, and he is already a three-time winner on the Flat. Panthere Noir and Private Project can battle it out for second.
CAMPEONA put a Bath defeat behind her to land the odds on two separate occasions, most recently at Newbury, and Sir Mark Prescott's unexposed filly is likely to be a warm order once again. An Bradan Feasa continues to knock at the door under both codes so has to be respected, and although Laravie arrives in better form than Naval Command, she might be in the grip of the handicapper.
ROGUE EXILE showed his inexperience in the early stages at Yarmouth on debut. He flew home for second once the penny dropped and James Owen's son of Blue Point will be a lot wiser for that experience. Justice Court finished third at Kempton on last year's introduction and has been gelded since. This extra furlong will likely suit on his return, while Malakai Kite looks the pick of the remainder.
Knock Three Times made a successful debut in nurseries when scoring over C&D. She showed a good attitude and will likely be in the thick of it once again, but ROGUE IMPERIAL makes most appeal. Struck into at Ffos Las last time, that run can be safely ignored and Archie Watson's charge is much better judged on his earlier third in novice company here behind a winner now rated 102. Laylaty is another to note on her handicap bow.
The Ollie Sangster-trained MUSICAL SOLDIER battled on well to win at Wolverhampton and although upped 5lb for that, the Soldier's Call gelding looks the sort to keep on improving. Brighton fourth Jackson Street is slowly slipping back down the handicap and is now on a mark he can get competitive from, although C&D winner Creciente may prove the bigger danger.
Distinct Spirit ran on strongly to get back up and win at Ffos Las on Tuesday and he has every chance of doubling up carrying a 5lb penalty if he gets an easy time on the front end. ALLEGRINO has come home in the first three on her last six starts, including wins on the all-weather here and at Yarmouth last month, and with Alfie Redman claiming 7lb, she could be the one to beat. Recent course winner Wetsand appears best of the remainder.
The form of BINTKNIGHT's spring C&D maiden win has been franked and her latest runner up effort is worth marking up as she still looked green. She's only 1lb higher here and can take advantage at the expense of the consistent pair Londoner and Epictetus who have proven a touch frustrating recently.
Frustrating maiden PANTHERE NOIR can finally get off the mark. He has shown improved form since being upped to middle distances on fast ground recently so can defeat the only previous winner in the race Zafaan. He's been running well in similar contests and looks the chief threat ahead of Private Project who was consistent at a lowly level until his latest run.
All of the field can be given a chance here but CAMPEONA looks the typical type to run up a sequence for her yard. She's only gone up 4lb for winning in first time cheekpieces last time and remains completely unexposed as a stayer. Consistent dual purpose performer An Bradan Feasa looks an obvious danger on a favourable fast surface. Naval Command was unlucky not to finish a fair bit closer last time and will also be a danger if his stamina holds up over this longer trip.
ROGUE EXILE showed signs of greenness on debut but flew home when the penny dropped over 7f on fast ground. That sets the standard here and with improvement likely he will be tough to beat. Justice Court was another who looked in need of the experience first time out but finished well. He should improve for this longer trip and fill the podium with the more experienced Malakai Kite who was in good form until his latest run.
The least exposed in the field LAYLATY can make a winning handicap debut. She placed in a decent novice last time proving her ability on quick ground and a repeat of that may be enough to get off the mark. Rogue Imperial had a valid excuse last time but looks well treated on her previous run over C&D which has been franked at Group level. He can chase the selection home ahead of last time out winner Knock Three Times who should be competitive up just 3lb.
This could be fought out by the last time out winners Musical Soldier and CRECIENTE. The former beat a couple of in form rivals last time so is greatly respected off just a 5lb higher mark but narrow preference is for the latter who brings in C&D form. She has shown a liking for fast ground and looks well treated back in a handicap against some more exposed rivals. Unreliable C&D winner Beau Jardine may do best of the rest.
ALLEGRINO was a winner on the AW here and she had a bit in hand when a fast ground winner at Yarmouth last time where she idled in front. She can defy a 3lb rise at the chief expense of Distinct Spirit who is well treated if turned out quickly after his midweek win in a weaker contest. Wetsand snapped a losing run over C&D last time and still has mileage in her mark judged on her 2yo form so isn't ruled out either.
