Although there didn't appear to be any excuses when Ghost Mode was unable to record a double at Goodwood recently, a reproduction of that fifth-placed effort should see him in the mix. Regardless, fellow three-year-old THUNDER CALL has been progressing nicely over 6f this season and his finishing effort the last twice, including when runner-up here at the Shergar Cup, suggests that a return to 7f will unlock the necessary improvement for him to secure a third career victory. Newbury winner Addison Grey is the pick of the older brigade.

Having finished behind three subsequent winners in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot, this could prove a suitable opportunity for HEYZOOM to regain the winning thread. A 5lb rise for that fourth-placed handicap bow looks workable and a subsequent gelding operation is also expected to help. Archers Bay made the most of a drop in grade when scoring at the Shergar Cup over C&D, but a 7lb higher mark does demand more of Marco Botti's colt, so a bigger threat may emerge from the hat-trick seeking and handicap debutant Ancestor.

Asheyra shaped as if a drop in trip could benefit her after proving a touch too keen on her third-placed debut over 7f at Newmarket, with the introduction of a hood looking a good move. Roger Varian's filly isn't taken lightly, but the form of PENSANDO A TE's debut second at Yarmouth looks slightly stronger and she edges the vote. Dannahue also filled the runner-up spot on her opening bid at that venue and she shouldn't be far away, while market support for newcomer La Pittura would be interesting.

GAVRIEL, a game winner at Kempton on the second of his two starts as a juvenile, returned with a solid effort to fill the runner-up berth at the same venue last month. Considering the son of Frankel conceded 7lb to the winner on that occasion, that was a commendable effort which should have set him up nicely now he steps into handicap company. Kahin is a likely pace angle and he is dangerous to ignore with first-time cheekpieces added. The generally consistent Law Court also looks a key player.

ROSA INGLESA failed to give a true account in a Listed race in France most recently and is worth another chance with her sights lowered back here. The daughter of Lope Y Fernandez had previously been progressive, supplementing a handicap success at Nottingham with a commendable third in the Sandringham at the Royal meeting. That preceded her notching a C&D win on her penultimate start, where the reopposing Nanino Niyati was a close-up fourth. Charlie Fellowes' filly can uphold the form over this trip. The unexposed Date Line and Luna Celeste, who steps up in class bidding for a three-timer, also warrant close inspection.

The stable companions Diligently and Fast Track Harry are notable options to keep a close eye on in the betting, while the in-form Havana Blue has improved with each run this season and a 5lb rise for his recent Newmarket success still leaves him on a competitive rating. However, the vote goes to GOLDEN LONG. The six-year-old arrives seeking a fourth victory from his last five starts and the latest of those at Doncaster was arguably a career-best effort.

Heavy ground scuppered another crack at black type for FLUORESCENCE in the Beverley Bullet on Sunday, which might be a fortunate occurrence as the in-form filly appears to have a decent chance in this company. Having comprehensively brushed aside the likes of Rocking Ends (fifth) when she won at Pontefract most recently, a 5lb rise should be well within her range. Fellow last-time-out winners Rhythm N Hooves and Maelstrom are also suggested as strong contenders.
