Leostar was a close second on his debut over timber at Ayr in May and has claims if returning from a break in the same form, while West Coast Lass was beaten just a neck at Musselburgh last time and is evidently improving steadily over obstacles. ROMEO BROWN could be the answer here, though, as he finished third in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and has returned with a pair of solid bumper efforts of late. The switch to hurdles could see him strike.

Watch out for: Leostar (7)

ROMEO BROWN has run to a fairly useful level in bumpers and is taken to make a successful debut over hurdles in a very winnable race. West Coast Lass is surely up to winning something like this and is the main danger ahead of Leostar.

DONNA'S DIAMOND is probably flattered by a mark of 146, though he did win a Grade 2 over timber last term, but he wouldn't have to be anywhere near that standard to score. A fair second in this sphere at Hexham latest, with Senor Lombardy 49 lengths behind, he is taken to open his account over the larger obstacles. Slanemore Hill is a winner between the flags but was beaten a long way on his debut under Rules, while Castletown has shown enough to be a potential danger.

Dawson City appears to relish a marathon trip and has claims here providing his Haydock fall hasn't left a mark, but WEST OF THE EDGE gets the vote. Dr Richard Newland's gelding was second in the Eider over this trip last season and returned to action with a fair fourth over timber at Ffos Las. The way he kept on at the end of that 3m test suggests he's going to be very much at home in this. Progress Drive and Looking Well give Nicky Richards a strong hand, while Calett Mad certainly is classy enough to win, but lugging top weight for four miles will surely test him to the limit.

Watch out for: Dawson City (4)

A big field for this marathon and LOOKING WELL could be worth chancing fitted with cheekpieces despite a low-key return at Cheltenham. He was an impressive winner on his last visit to Kelso and clearly has one of the Nationals like this in him judged on his showing at Musselburgh earlier in the year. Stablemate Progress Drive and West of The Edge are of firm interest also.

JET MASTER might be the oldest of these veteran chasers, but he skipped clear of his two rivals at Newcastle last time and a 5lb rise for that 11-length success could prove very lenient indeed. Perfect Candidate takes a big drop in grade and is now 5lb lower than his last winning mark, while the handicapper may have taken a chance in leaving Silver Tassie on a mark of 130 after he went close off that rating at Ayr latest. Cultrum Abbey and Valleyofmilan also hold claims.

Peters Cousin made a favourable impression when finishing second on her reappearance at Ayr last month, while Off The Hook returned to action after nine months away with a solid third over this sort of trip at same venue. DONNAS DREAM gets the vote, though, as she appeared to relish the switch to hurdling when second at Newcastle and there should be a lot more to come from her.
