Banyan Tree was once in the care of Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle and while the stoutly-bred son of Danehill Dancer failed to make an impression in the handicap ranks latest, the drop in class will undoubtedly help. NUMEN is preferred, however and, with good novice form already in the book, the Lucy Jones inmate is expected to go well on the ground and could prove a tough nut to crack. Official ratings would suggest Ravi River won't be far behind but keep an eye on Aviso who may have improved for his first effort here in November.

THE COCKNEY MACKEM looked every inch the chaser when serving it up to Edgardo Sol at Aintree two starts ago and that particular form was done no harm when the Paul Nicholls charge reverted to timber the time after to land a valuable handicap at Cheltenham. The Nigel Twiston-Davies charge was going well at Newbury last time before unseating his jockey and another big run could be on the cards here. Get It On appeals most at the forecast prices if he can put his fall at Hereford behind him, while Darna is another to take seriously despite the burden of top weight.

Having won with plenty in hand at Uttoxeter last month, Qualitee runs 5lb well in at the weights despite having to carry a 7lb penalty. This is a career high rating, however, and at the forecast prices, it might be worth taking her on with SABLAZO. The Andrew Turnell representative scored impressively at Fontwell in November and while a 10lb hike seems harsh, James Banks takes off a useful 7lb and the step up in trip can ensure he remains one step ahead of the assessor. Bay Central makes most appeal elsewhere.

The consistent Illysantachristina is forced to carry a 7lb penalty for her winning exploits at Uttoxeter last time out and while she clearly sets the form standard at the top of the weights, it might be worth siding with the improving IF I WERE A BOY. Novice form behind Perpetually at Huntingdon three starts ago has worked out well and while her most recent spin around Kempton will have freshened her up, this could be her chance to shine. Ananda Kanda is another to be wary of and market support in particular would suggest a big run is expected.

Cheltenham Festival winner Pigeon Island must be respected at the top of the weights and the Nigel Twiston-Davies charge has now come back down to the same mark (129) to the one off which he won the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase in March 10'. Recent form is a slight concern, though, and ROSENEATH is preferred. The seven-year-old made it a winning reappearance at Hereford last month and despite receiving 8lb for his seven-length romp, he remains off an attractive mark. Simply Wings is another to keep a watchful eye on.

Maurice Linehan has more than proved his worth in the saddle of late and, boasting an 8lb claim, Hard Tackle must be taken seriously in what looks a wide-open affair. The Jonjo O'Neill charge represents the each-way value in the race but the vote goes to PLAYFUL ROSE. The Henry Daly inmate is expected to have come on for her seasonal bow at Towcester and in the first-time cheekpieces, the daughter of Luso can take this step up in trip in her stride. Forever My Friend may also get competitive when push comes to shove.

Buxom caught the eye on her debut when scoring in similar company at Fontwell and while the daughter of Milan is forced to carry a penalty in this, she is likely to give another bold account of herself. PETRARCHICK wasn't fancied on her debut when finishing third in a Hereford bumper at 50-1 but with improvement forthcoming, the Arch filly should be a serious player. Elsewhere, Jason Maguire is an interesting jockey booking aboard Whichever.
