A difficult contest to assess with many newcomers and hurdling debutants in the line-up. Ilmig is the stand out name on form, but he was disappointingly beaten on his penultimate start when sent off an odds-on chance. He since finished a well-beaten third at Leopardstown over Christmas and while he is likely to be involved towards the business end here, he might be susceptible to a less exposed rival. Newcomer BARNCROFT comes from the family of Quito De La Roque, Kazal and Saint Roque and he won't have to be anything out of the ordinary to take this. Jack Kennedy has sided with the selection over the fellow Gordon Elliott-trained debutant, Boothen Boy. Out of the useful Upsie, Dreamsrmadeofthis is another interesting newcomer, while Flat winners Hisnameis Mrdevitt, Palace Rock and Na Caith Tobac all warrant respect.

SANTA ROSSA hasn't been seen in over a year, but she has some very smart form to her name and sets the standard in this two-mile contest. A winner of a Grade 2 bumper on her second start, she performed with credit when pitched in against top-class rivals at Aintree and Punchestown respectively. Her debut effort over flights at Fairyhouse was encouraging and despite the lengthy layoff, it will be disappointing if she fails to account for her 18 rivals here. A beaten odds-on favourite on her two starts in Ireland, Manitopark Aa is given second preference. The form of her most recent effort has worked out well, with the first and third both winning since. Bumper victors Lady Heath (first time hood) and Dreamingandhoping are both capable of making their presence felt, while others of note are Cathmart Desjy and newcomer Bealnablath, who is a half-sister to smart stable companion Treacysenniscorthy.

A chance is taken on MAGIC PIPER in this competitive heat. Tom Gibney has his horses in excellent form of late and while the selection hasn't shown a lot so far, an improved performance can be expected from him now with just 9-10 on his back. A respectable sixth on his penultimate start, after coming in for plenty of market support, the son of Tobougg again finished sixth on his most recent outing at Fairyhouse. Fierami is a more obvious contender and he is given second preference. A surprise 25/1 winner here last month, the son of Network will again be ridden by promising seven-pound claimer Jordan Gainford and it'll come as no surprise if he manages to follow up. Hugh Morgan and Young Dev hit the headlines after their amazing win over fences recently and they are likely to have plenty of supporters in this two-and-a-half-mile contest. Song Of Earth and Forrard Away both won last time out and they warrant respect, while others for the shortlist are Castle Town House, Difficult Decision and Rebel Early.

NOBLE YEATS looks the one to beat here on his hurdling debut. The Yeats gelding already has jumping experience having been narrowly denied on his sole point-to-point start. He was very impressive when taking a Thurles bumper on his second 'track' outing and was far from disgraced when sixth in a hot contest won by the exciting Kilcruit at the Dublin Racing Festival last time. This looks a nice opportunity to get him off the mark over hurdles at the first time of asking. The danger could be point-to-point winner Mr Josiey Wales who makes his first outing for Dermot McLoughlin.

The mare SCARLET AND DOVE looks attractive here getting weight off the geldings. She was upsides Colreevy and still travelling well when coming down two from home at Thurles in Grade 2 company on her last outing. Having won impressively at Limerick previously she looks a mare that should do better over fences than hurdles and this is a nice opportunity to land a valuable Grade 3 prize. Epson Du Houx has the top mark in the field, with a rating of 138. He weakened in the closing stages in a competitive handicap contest at Leopardstown last time but, in what wouldn't appear the strongest graded contest, he has to be a leading player. Jack Hackett, who chased home Epson Du Houx at Naas previously, looks to have a tough task trying to turn the tables now giving him weight.

SE MO LAOCH ran well here last time and looks to have a leading chance now in this veterans' contest. He chased home Young Dev over course and distance 13 days ago and, off just a 3lb higher mark, should be thereabouts again in a slightly easier-looking contest. Kavanaghs Corner has been running well and Rachael Blackmore takes over now on Henry de Bromhead's charge, so he has to be given utmost respect. Lean Araig has been knocking on the door and the form of his recent runs looks solid. Having won over three miles over timber, stepping up in trip now could be in his favour.

Stepping back up in trip should suit REINE FEE. She was staying on when second to Arahecan at Down Royal over this two-and-a-half-mile trip and ran a solid race back at the minimum distance when third last time to Duc D'allier in a decent heat at Fairyhouse. A mark of 110 doesn't look harsh at all now for her handicap debut against her own sex. Sovereign Gold ran well on her first start in handicap company over fences at Naas last time and, off just a 2lb higher mark, she looks an obvious contender. Exit To West looks a better chaser than hurdler and is another that has to come into the mix, while this trip may be a bit short for the consistent Askann.
