PINK PLAY readily accounted for the reopposing Secret Door (second) off level weights when winning a maiden hurdle at Southwell in December and although she's forced to concede 6lb to the Harry Fry inmate this time she's taken to confirm the placings. Harry Whittington's charge won with any amount in hand and her second-placed effort behind Robins Reef the time before reads well. Stickee Fingers has shaped with some promise in two bumpers thus far and cannot go unconsidered.

David Pipe's sole runner on the card, KATKEAU, is taken to complete his hat-trick while two impressive wins at Fakenham and Ludlow at the back end of last year remain fresh in the memory. The nine-year-old brings a good level of hurdles form to the table and, unbeaten in two starts over fences, an extra 9lb wouldn't have stopped him when he won at Ludlow last time. Friendly Royal is a model of consistency and joins Sew On Target on the shortlist.

This looks a match on paper between Tomngerry and BIGIRONONHISHIP and slight preference is for the latter. Forced to concede weight to the field having won a maiden at Ayr last month, the son of Beneficial won a point-to-point in May last year and the form of his latest triumph at the Scottish track is working out well. Brian Ellison's charge is not to be completely overlooked on his hurdles bow, though, while Bronco Billy makes up the shortlist.

NATIVE RIVER is eased in class and should appreciate this more testing 3m trip having finished a beaten favourite in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day. Colin Tizzard's charge is the class horse in the field bringing a mark of 153 to the table, but Blaklion ran well for second over an inadequate trip at Cheltenham latest and is respected along with Definitly Red and Bitofapuzzle, who was in the process of running a big race before unseating Noel Fehily at Thurles last time.

Another Mattie kept on well at the finish when scoring over the extended 2m6f at Kelso last time out and commands respect along with C&D scorer Quel Elite. Marginal preference, however, is for WATERCLOCK, a classy Flat performer (second in the 2013 Cesarewitch) who was tapped for toe when second over 2m3f here last month and could relish the step up to 3m. First-time blinkers may liven up Sir Vinski, who is worth a market check.

BIG FELLA THANKS is the class act in the race, having won the Sky Bet Chase and Greatwood Gold Cup in his pomp, as well as finishing fourth in the 2010 Grand National. He's evidently not the force of old at the age of 14, but could still have too much in his locker for today's opposition, with only course winner Palypso De Creek making any sort of appeal against him. Herdsman is worth a market check on his return from an absence.

APPLAUS looks the safest option in a trappy finale. Micky Hammond's four-year-old struck over the extended 1m4f here in December and although he took a keen hold when fading into third at Newcastle latest, it is hoped he can settle better in this larger field - hopefully if granted a stronger pace to chase. Burlington Bert and Spirit Of Kayf have winning bumper form in the book and command respect, with newcomer Smart Boy also worth a market check.
