SCANDI NOIR shaped nicely when third on her debut at Cork and can open her account. The Minzaal filly stayed on behind Ballinea Star and that form looks strong now with the winner landing a Group 3 contest at the Curragh last Saturday. Her main dangers here could be from the newcomers. Joseph O'Brien's charge Alwaysanangel is one to note. The Harry Angel filly is a full-sister to six-time winner Yorkshire and cost 75,000gns at the breeze-ups. The Ger Lyons-trained Anglesea Bridge is another to consider. The son of Soldier's Call is a half-brother to a winner in France.
LADY KELLY ran really well on her second handicap outing at Down Royal and can open her account. The Sioux Nation filly made the running and was collared late on over 7f. She showed plenty of pace and dropping to six could prove the key. I'm Spartacus was a cosy winner on his penultimate run here, but didn't help himself by hanging on his last visit. He looks capable of a big run again if keeping straight. Monastere was a big price when runner-up here and if he can repeat that performance, he's another to consider.
SPIRIT OF EAGLES won on her penultimate start over C&D and may be able to strike again. She ran well off this mark at Down Royal 12 days ago when a staying-on third to Nouvel Espoir over the minimum trip and it makes sense that she returns here. Treasure Rose drops back a furlong after scoring at the same Down Royal meeting and, after just a 3lb rise for that victory, she commands respect. Girl Bear is interesting on her second handicap outing. She ran well when third at Roscommon in May and, on that showing, she should appreciate dropping in trip.
MO ANAM CHARA was a cosy winner of a claiming maiden at Roscommon last time and looks capable of winning a handicap off her current mark. She beat a decent yardstick in Star Of Beauty and was actually eased 1lb to 69 after that performance. Rodeeve was an easy winner over 6f here last month and has to be respected, although a 12lb hike makes life tougher. Hasita has been placed in two maidens this season and her mark of 72 looks fair enough. She is another to consider on her handicap debut.
KC BEAR didn't have much luck in running here in May and did well in the circumstances to finish fourth to Fortuity. He stayed on well to the line and it's no surprise to see connections step him back up to an extended mile. Fortuity has disappointed since at Limerick but that was on soft ground and she may be capable of better back here on a sounder surface. John La Bear was a winner when last seen at Dundalk in December and is one to note on his return to action.
BELLA COLOMBIA has produced a couple of solid performances since scoring at Dundalk in March and can strike again now back down at this level. Willie McCreery's charge wasn't beaten far when fifth at Roscommon last time and has been eased 2lb since. William F Browne ran well off just a 1lb lower mark when third at Leopardstown 13 days ago and could be the danger. Pete's Dream attracted some support when fourth at Down Royal recently and is another to consider.
PLEASED has been third and second on her two outings to date and bumped into a cosy winner in stablemate Arrietty at the Curragh early last month. This looks like a winnable opportunity for the daughter of Camelot. Ballydoyle filly Cosmetic sets the standard with a mark of 76, but the selection looks capable of better than that. A bigger danger may be the Johnny Murtagh-trained Vanir. This Teofilo filly took a nice step forward when second at Gowran last month and there could be a bit more to come.
SCANDI NOIR is the clear pick here after a promising placed effort on debut where she conceded first run to the front pair. If she is ridden more positively she's open to plenty of improvement so can defeat a pair of potentially useful newcomers in Anglesea Bridge and Alwaysanangel. Both come from top yards which get plenty of first time out winners and have plenty of speed in the sire's side of their pedigrees.
An open race can go to TAWAAZON who bounced back to form when runner up last time over a stiff 5f. All of his best form has come over this longer trip and he remains 5lb below his last winning mark. Recent C&D winner I'm Spartacus struggled on his follow up attempt last time but remains very well treated on his AW form so is greatly respected while Hero Of The Hour is of interest at a bigger price. He ran well over C&D on his reappearance and is best forgiven his latest run where he went too fast.
TREASURE ROSE gained a deserved victory in first time cheekpieces last time and is expected to follow up in the retained headgear. She's only gone up 3lb for that victory and is still thrown in on her best maiden efforts so if handling the quicker ground she will be tough to beat. Spirit Of Eagles has proven unreliable but she backed up her claiming victory when returned to handicaps last time and will be on the premises if in the same form here. At a bigger price Thenandnow is also feared having contested a Listed race last time. She has shown improved form this term and will appreciate the step back up in trip here.
HASITA is strongly fancied to make a winning handicap debut. She is well treated on her maiden form which includes a run behind a future Group 1 winner and she is bred to appreciate this quicker surface. Minaun View remains a maiden but has been steadily running into form recently and races off the same mark as when runner up to an unexposed rival last time. If building on that she can provide the biggest challenge ahead of Elly Bay who returned to form when runner up over C&D last time and may have a bit more to offer in first time cheekpieces.
ONLY ONE SCOBIE continues to shoot up the weights but he arrives in fantastic form and could remain ahead of his mark. He was an easy winner on his penultimate start and his latest run is worth marking up considerably as he kicked on far too soon when dropped back in distance. The consistent Kc Bear is feared most and ran better than his finishing figures suggest here last time as he was left with too much to do having met trouble. Make The Tide proved consistent in maidens and may fare best of the numerous handicap debutants.
BELLA COLOMBIA can defy top weight here. She's just 1lb above her last winning mark and arrives in form with her latest effort worth marking up. William F Browne hasn't won since his 2yo days but returned to form after a poor spell when placing last time under an aggressive ride. He has a poor draw to overcome but faces little competition for the lead so will be dangerous if allowed to dictate. Believeth is yet to fire in handicaps but she had an excuse last time and looks on a fair mark judged on her maiden form. She could fill the final place at a bigger price.
VANIR left her debut effort behind when runner up last time and that sets the standard in this line up. The way she powered through the line that day suggested that she'll have more to offer over this longer trip so she is chosen to defeat Pleased who is closest to the selection on the ratings. Joseph O'Brien's filly has already proven her stamina for this far and can fill the places with the improving Cosmetic who looks a strong stayer for top connections.
