Leopardstown - Thursday 11th June 2026
Donnacha O'Brien's CASHEL QUEEN was the winner of a barrier trial in Naas last month and has to be taken seriously on 'track' debut. There is plenty of rain expected and she is by a sire whose progeny have posted results on testing ground. Furthermore, her dam was successful on soft ground in her native France. Star Glory kept on steadily for sixth on debut in a Curragh maiden and that form has been franked. This longer trip looks right up her street if she handles the slower ground. Pisiffik Ginger can build upon an opening fourth at Fairyhouse, while newcomer Dear Madam is related to a couple of multiple winners and could show up well.
CROMAC QUAY could make it third-time lucky. Her third on debut at this track received a massive boost when the runner-up landed the Oaks last Friday. Although it was disappointing on paper that she was beaten into second at odds-on at Naas, the winner followed up at Gowran Park and has an entry in a Group 3 this weekend, so that form has depth. Joseph O'Brien takes the wraps off Naas barrier trial winner Blooming Rose, who has to be given plenty of respect as a half-sister to recent Coronation Cup winner Bay City Roller. A return to slower ground will aid Slaney View's cause, while Expert Dancer is building her experience and isn't out of it.
This looks fiendishly difficult with plenty of recent winners lining up. ONLY ONE SCOBIE relished soft ground when hacking up over 1m here last week. He runs under a 7lb penalty and there should be more to come from him. The handicapper is trying to get to grips with Meriden, who is on a hat-trick after an easy victory at the Curragh. Connections are attempting to make hay with her as this will be her third run since the end of May. Shoot To Kill employed differing tactics when placed at Roscommon and Down Royal and is another contender. Jack Cleary was the last jockey to win on Loingseoir and the pair should enjoy a good spin.
All eight runners hold a triple-figure rating and none are easily ruled out. British raider Native Warrior sets the standard with a mark of 110, but has to bounce back from a below-par effort at Naas last month. That is eminently feasible on this slower ground, though. CELESTIAL ORBIT had plenty of good form for Ollie Sangster in Britain and reaped immediate dividends on stable debut for Joseph O'Brien in a Group 3 at the Curragh in April. Rain is very much music to her ears. East Hampton is only rated 1lb inferior to Native Warrior and is a big player on his keeping-on second in Listed class when last seen at the Curragh in March.
COEUR D'OR looks to be running into form and could be capable of scoring off his current mark. He ran a solid race here in mid-April and stepped forward to finish third at Cork nine days later. Dermot Weld's course and distance winner is taken to strike. Down at the bottom end of the handicap, Moyassr comes here in fine form after scoring at Fairyhouse a fortnight ago. The Mehmas gelding is up in grade now, but is still respected having won with a bit in hand last time. Abbey Actress ran well here on her penultimate outing and is another to consider.
GREAT MOVER may appreciate going back up in trip today. The Willie McCreery-trained filly ran well over 7f here a week ago, when making most of the running and eventually finishing third to Bella Isabella. Her sole win has come at this distance and the soft ground will suit. Spanish Temptress was just edged out in a cracking finish at Gowran 10 days ago. She went up 3lb for that but could be a big player again, while Electric Beauty has been knocking on the door and looks another for the shortlist.
KHORMOR SYD can gain a deserved win after a couple of runner-up efforts. The Gillian Scott-trained gelding came to win his race at Limerick last time but got collared late on by Patrick Street. Dropping back in trip here should suit. Porsche Lad was consistent at Dundalk over the winter and looks on a competitive mark now back on turf. He could be a danger, while Nibras Rainbow came out on top in a tight finish at Killarney last month. Raised only 4lb for that victory, the latter is another to consider.
Strange to have a 2yo race at Leopardstown not feature a runner from the Aidan or Joseph O'Brien stable. Donnacha is represented by Cashel Queen, who has a nice profile and is respected on debut, but it's PISIFFIK GINGER who earns the vote. She shaped nicely on her Fairyhouse debut and normal progress could see her off the mark at the second attempt over this longer trip. Celtic Moon is another newcomer of note. Watch the market for clues.
Blooming Rose is a fascianting newcomer as a half-sister to Coronation Cup winner Bay City Roller, though there's a good chance she'll need further than this. CROMAC QUAY rates the most likely winner, having run to a useful level in both starts, and the drop in trip might prove suitable. Expert Dancer needs to bounce back but could do so minus the headgear this time, while Slaney View needs more than of late but could be aided by the fitting of first-time cheekpieces.
A big field and plenty to consider but perhaps best to concentrate on the progressive 3yos. Only One Scobie showed massively improved form to get of the mark over 1m here last time, appreciting the deeper ground and front-running ride. Similar tactics will surely be employed and she's 7lb well in under a penalty, so there's not much to crab, although she needs to show that wasn't a flash in the pan. MERIDEN has already backed up a much-improved win bu going in again, though, and despite a significantly higher mark this time, she's related to a Listed performer and could yet have further progress in her. Are You In Or Out, a winner at Fairyhouse last time, can fare best of the older runners, but it's Fortuity who is third choice. The 3yo filly made all when getting off the mark last time and remains capable of better as she's still on a fair mark.
A weak Group 3 in which none of them overly convince. Celestial Orbit is down in grade and would have been the selection but for the fact that she's got a penalty. Native Warrior needs to bounce back from a no-show in a Naas Listed event last time - it was a disconcerting display - but at his best he'd be the one to beat. Let's instead side with EAST HAMPTON, who ran to his best when runner-up in a Curragh Listed event on reappearance, has previously placed at Group 2 level and was a fair fourth in this contest 12 months ago.
Coeur d'Or is a 10yo now but he remains most competitive as recent efforts suggest, finishing a fair sixth here two starts back and third third at Cork tried in blinkers last time. He should go well, as should Moyassr, who is coming off his best turf effort when a good winner at Fairyhouse. He's been hit with an 8lb rise, though, and it's ABBEY ACTRESS who is the selection. A good second over 10f at the course two starts back, she ran to a similar level in a Listed event last time and still looks on a fair mark now back in a handicap.
A competitive handicap, both Spanish Temptress and Electric Beauty appeal towards the head of the weights and enter the race off a good run. Victory for either would come as no surprise, but MARMELADOVA could have a bit of juice in her mark on this handicap debut, winning her maiden well then performing with credit in a decent conditions race. She's a 5yo but has only had seven runs and still have improvement in her. Great Mover ran well over 7f here last time should be fine back over the longer trip.
This looks wide-open with plenty to consider. Top weight Khormor Syd has been in good form since returning to the Flat, finishing runner-up twice, including over 12f last time, and he should again go well with the drop in trip not expected to be an issue. There are alternatives, though, with the 3yo filly RODEO BLUES at the complete opposite end of the weights earning the vote this time having shown more on her handicap debut at Gowran Park. Nibras Rainbow, a winner at Kilbeggan last time, and Nephin Mountain, another 3yo, are others to consider.
