Small fields are the order of the day due to faster than ideal conditions. Deserter was a beaten favourite on his most recent start at Market Rasen but should improve here for more forceful tactics, though preference is for DOITFORJOE. He disappointed on handicap debut at Southwell last month but won't be inconvenienced by the drop back down in distance and looks fairly handicapped. Hahnenkam can win the battle for third against Beat The Tide.

HINT OF MINT was a decent performer for Nick Williams before injury intervened, but the son of Passing Glance has now moved to Harry Fry and is 12lb lower than when last seen in the 2015 Imperial Cup where he finished down the field behind Ebony Express. His trainer does well with horses moving yards and it would be no surprise to see him back in the winner's enclosure on his return to action. Moonday Sun has been in very solid form over the summer months and has his claims under a 7lb penalty. Cliffs Of Dover has the valuable three-year-old allowance on just his third start over timber, while tearaway front runner My Brother Sylvest will ensure a strong gallop throughout.

Present Man arrives here with questions to answer after losing out at this venue earlier this year and although he should be able to take advantage of a small opening at some stage in the coming weeks, this could prove too competitive. GENTLEMAN JON didn't run as well as expected at Market Rasen over the summer but he is one who should enjoy this drying ground and a 119-day break certainly should have done Colin Tizzard's charge no harm. Closest Friend has racked up a sequence of placed efforts but is becoming tough to trust for win purposes.

PRETTYLITTLETHING was the subject of decent support when winning at Towcester earlier this month and after travelling strongly for much of the contest she duly obliged. Her handler has made an excellent start to the season and she can defy a 7lb rise under James Best on ground that should suit the six-year-old once more. Boher Lad looks likely to pose the biggest threat despite still being a maiden. He ran well for a long way at Stratford in August and Ben Poste's 3lb claim makes life easier, while Kapgarde King is also fancied to be involved.

ON DEMAND didn't pull up many trees on the Flat for Andrew Balding and Simon Hodgson respectively, but the five-year-old looks to have improved for a change to this sphere under Colin Tizzard and the Dorset-based handler has found the daughter of Teofilo an excellent opportunity to strike. Karl Marx is likely to prove popular in the market as connections take advantage of him being 4lb well-in over hurdles before the six-year-old goes down the chasing route, while Milan Of Crystal also enters calculations.

A moderate contest in which Lucky Diva arguably sets the standard following her second at Exeter last week at odds of 100/1. That said, it will be disappointing if either of the winning pointers MURIFIELD or Rouge Devils did not prove too good for the mare. The preference is for the former due to his impressive point-to-point win back in May and Rouge Devils needs to bounce back after a disappointing run in a similar heat at Hereford recently.
