Ollie Sangster is only four short of his previous best of 29 in his third season with a licence and has already surpassed his prize money earnings of £427,702 in 2024 with £474,914 in the kitty so far this term. His relentless progress in the training ranks has been mirrored by the not inconsiderable achievement of saddling both the second and the third in this season’s 1000 Guineas with Flight and Simmering chasing home the Godolphin-owned even-money favourite Desert Flower.
That pair have enjoyed a break but will soon be ready to resume action and, like so many, Sangster has had to show great patience with summer fast ground a deterrent to many of his intended runners. One of his top filly’s Shuwari returned from her break with an encouraging effort when third in the Listed Dick Hern at Haydock on Saturday and the Manton trainer should soon be belting passed last season’s tally.
Here, Sangster kindly spoke to Tony Elves for attheraces.com.
