In a moderate contest the marginal preference is for CHANCE IT, who has not been at his best on his last couple of starts but a repeat of his second at Killarney in August would make the six-year-old very hard to beat. Ciaoifsin is another with claims based on the pick of his form in bumpers, while Sizing Julie was still in with a chance when she was brought down four out on her hurdles debut last week.

TINOS TANK put in a thoroughly-encouraging performance when second at Listowel a few weeks ago, considering it was his first start since February 2015. If the son of Flemensfirth can find some improvement for that start then he could prove very hard to beat today. That said, Field Robin has been knocking on the door of late and she merits respect today, while Stolen Diamond has shown plenty of ability in bumpers.

A competitive heat but another chance can be given to BALL D'ARC, who was a beaten favourite on his chasing debut at Listowel recently. That said, this Grade 2 winner from last season jumped well enough on that occasion and should improve for the run. Attribution finished in front of the selection when the pair chased home Min in a Grade 2 novice hurdle in January but his form was not quite as strong in subsequent starts. Ordinary World did not go on over hurdles following a promising bumper career but he is bred to improve over fences.

WHISTLE DIXIE has shown a fair level of form over hurdles, including when placed behind Limini in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse in January, and the daughter of Kayf Tara should improve on her form now making her chasing debut and stepping back up in distance. Her stable companion, Isabella Liberty, has threatened to win a race over fences and will appreciate the drop back in trip, while there could be more to come over the larger obstacles from Havana Dancer.

STEAMBOAT QUAY was disappointing when a beaten favourite last time at Navan last month but could find plenty of improvement for the first-time cheekpieces applied, a system that has worked particularly well recently with horses owned by JP McManus. Dorking is entitled to progress from her maiden hurdle form and is of interest with a tongue tie fitted, while Artists Daughter is likely to improve for the extra half mile having stayed on well last time over 2m at Gowran.

BAWNMORE LASS hinted her turn was approaching when runner-up over this trip at Ballinrobe last time and the re-fitting of cheekpieces could be the catalyst that enables her to strike at the ninth time of asking. Jack Slade is 8lb higher than when scoring over this distance at Bellewstown in July but has place claims along with the consistent Ballygill Princess and Shabra's Bertolini, who is sporting a first-time tongue-tie.

A competitive event but it is tough to look past the claims of OLD CASTLETOWN, who represents the feared combination of Ted and Ruby Walsh. He arrives here on a hat-trick and his latest performance in August was even more impressive considering he made an horrendous error earlier in the contest. A mark of 101 back over hurdles looks fair and he can get the better of William Du Berlais, who is lightly raced but did disappoint when a well-backed favourite at Kilbeggan last month. Court Challenge also has to enter calculations on his seasonal reappearance.

HARDLINE made a promising debut for Gigginstown at Punchestown in February before failing to live with the pace of a frantic bumper at the same venue just two months later, finishing in the middle of a strong field. He looked tired that day and will probably want further than this 2m trip given time but he should still have enough in the locker to claim this before starting his jumping career. The booking of Patrick Mullins suggests that a better effort is expected from Chateauneuf Du Pap this time, while Calm Chaos represents a trainer who did well in this sphere last season.
