Verdict
CITY OF MEMPHIS was impressive on her comeback at Gowran Park and can make a deeper mark now in stakes company. The lightly-raced Sioux Nation filly was a fine fifth in the Irish 1,000 Guineas on just her second outing last May. Having returned with that cosy success 18 days ago, this looks like an appropriate stepping stone. Carla Ridge achieved a mark of 110 after a wide-margin success in testing conditions at the Curragh over 6f. She sets the standard and it will be interesting to see how she fares. Princess Child ran well when runner-up last time at this level and is another for the shortlist.
Expert View Verdict
The standard is set by Fairy Bridge winner Princess Child who proved she was in good heart when runner up in the Park Express last time. However the form of her Group win is weak enough and she could be vulnerable under a penalty to the unexposed CITY OF MEMPHIS who outclassed her rivals on her reappearance. Prior to that she had been seen finishing midfield in the Irish Guineas in the sole defeat of her career so she is clearly highly regarded and should have much more to offer this term. Carla Ridge looked a Group horse in the making when a 10l Listed winner at the end of last term. She may ideally want some rain but isn't ruled out stepping up in class and trip on her return.
