Expert Analysis
Aidan O’Brien had won this race 17 times before and it had the odds-on favourite here, but it was his son Joseph that came out on top, James J Braddock doing well to come from off a steady pace to win with more in hand than the margin of victory.
JAMES J BRADDOCK had finished in midfield in the Ballysax last time, but improved plenty for that first run back as he had done as a two-year-old, showing himself versatile in term of ground too, his juvenile win having come on heavy ground. He raced off a steady pace but found plenty for pressure to lead on the line and is worth marking up as the two he beat were favoured by the run of the race.
PIERRE BONNARD improved on his return in the Ballysax but had every chance in a race that was run to suit. He tracked a steady pace into the straight but made hard work of passing the leader before the winner nabbed him late. Headgear may be worth considering for his next start.
ENDORSEMENT made the running in first-time cheekpieces and backed up his run in the Ballysax. He appears best on a sound surface.
SHAIHAAN was an impressive winner of a slow ground maiden in March, the form working out well, but struggle with this better class of race. He may prefer softer conditions.
STRAIGHT UP dwelt and was never involved.
