Simon and Ed Crisford gave punters plenty of food for thought for next year’s 1000 Guineas when Zanthos put in an explosive performance in the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes last week and they will be hoping their star filly winters in the best possible way as they dream of Classic glory.
Zanthos had no trouble reversing a previous defeat by Touleen at Leicester as she scorched up the stands rail on the Rowley Mile for a half-length victory from The Prettiest Star but there is still plenty of action to be seen from their Gainsborough Stables, team.
The duo have spread their nets far and wide this weekend with Choisya in Keeneland, Quddwah in France and Meydaan in Australia preparing for the Caulfield Cup but there is also prize hunting on the home front at Ascot and Redcar.
Manxman will soon be bidding for another crack at Cesarewitch having enjoyed nice warm-up at Goodwood last month. He was awarded the historic handicap on the day after in 2024 when passing the post behind Alphonse Le Grande but the race was awarded back to the Irish raider the following week.
Team Crisford’s 59 domestic winners have already seen them pass the £1million pound barrier for a fourth successive season and Ed kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about some of the mainstays of the stable.
