When it comes to the French Classic season, it always pays to turn your eyes towards the Maisons-Laffitte training centre and the father and son training duo of Carlos and Yann Lerner.
Look De Vega, the winner of the Prix du Jockey Club 2024 or La Parisienne, who finished second in the Prix de Diane 2022 behind Nashwa, have come from this yard, which this year has several potential runners for the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches and the Prix de Diane.
“We are very fortunate that our yard is continuously supported by our owners and whilst we try to always increase the numbers, we like to keep our yard to around 100 horses,” explains Yann Lerner.
“It allows us to replenish the stock and to have some nice horses.” Amongst the nice horses are The Last Dance and Evita, two fillies with Classic ambitions.
Here, Yann Lerner kindly talks to Liz Price about their chances and the rest of his three-year-old generation.
