Kibris has bits and pieces of form over hurdles that give him leading claims, a runner-up effort at Cork in mid-October being the highlight. However, he does have something to prove on his first appearance for Stuart Crawford and preference is for the lightly-raced LEXINGTON WOOD. Olly Murphy's charge was thrown in at the deep end on his hurdling bow when eighth in the Dovecote and should have learned plenty from that experience. Way Maker is a feasible alternative.
Having stayed on stoutly to score over C&D, Inis Oirr merits respect in his follow-up bid. That said, consistency isn't the nine-year-old's forte, with LARGY FORCE rating as the one to beat. Olly Murphy's mare found only a subsequent winner too strong at Uttoxeter and she looks to have more to come over 3m. Busty Boy is likely to run his race and is the pick of the remainder.
MOYGANNY PHIL improved for a step up in distance when scoring over an extended 2m3f at Carlisle. This extra yardage should only help the six-year-old and a 2lb nudge up the ratings looks workable. Bold Light hasn't been disgraced on his last two outings in class 3 company and is feared most dropping in grade, although Sun Art is unexposed over this trip.
Olly Murphy holds a strong hand with last-time-out winners Atlantic City and KADO SACREE, and the latter makes most appeal. The six-year-old got off the mark over timber when justifying favouritism on his handicap debut at Carlisle and a 3lb higher mark shouldn't halt his progress. Lets Mingle still held every chance when unseating her rider at the final hurdle over C&D and cannot be ruled out, for all that a 4lb rise in the ratings demands more.
TRUST HOUSE arrives on the back of two impressive victories in recent months and Olly Murphy's charge can make it a hat-trick, despite an 8lb rise since his last appearance. A well-held second over C&D thee weeks ago, Magnolia could once again make the frame, while Oh Janey should not be underestimated down in grade significantly on her return to action.
Not beaten far when second over 2m1f at Kelso last week, TANKING ALONG merits plenty of respect, especially as he is 2lb well-in on this occasion. Wings On Wheels also hit the crossbar on his most recent outing at Huntingdon in March and Ian Williams' gelding could prove to be the main threat to the selection, ahead of Carrigeen Castle.
SEA TEMPEST displayed plenty of promise when beaten just a length into third on his racecourse bow at Southwell in February. With the benefit of that experience, Tom Lacey's gelding could prove hard to beat here. Hold The Throw was second on his only start between the flags and has to be noted on his Rules debut, while Killygowan and Saint Cunning complete the shortlist.
Quite a competitive maiden hurdle, it can go to LEXINGTON WOOD, who made his hurdles debut in the Grade 2 Dovecote at Kempton, duly struggling, but is sure to have learned from that and now finds himself in calmer waters. He has some useful bumper form to his name, as does main danger Way Maker, who won his first two before finishing midfield in a competitive race at Newbury last time. He should have more to offer now hurdling. Irish runner Kibris, back hurdling, and Scriabin, placed in a handicap here last time, are considered also.
The mare LARGY FORCE has been holding her form really well since November, winning at Uttoxeter and Wetherby and finishing a good second despite errors upped to 3m last time. She's been nudged up 3lb but rates the most likely winner with more to come as a stayer. Inis Oirr returned to winning ways here last time and remains competitively weighted on old form, although consistency has never been a strong point. Ned Tanner is off a falling mark and could have a say but certainly needs more than of late.
There's surely more to come from MOYGANNY PHIL, who got off the mark upped to 2m3f at Carlisle last time and is taken to defy a small rise and a 2lb rise looks to underestimate him. Carismatic Soldier, a stablemate of the selection, can go well off an easing mark and could emerge as the danger, although Sun Art has some potential stepping back up in trip also.
The first-time tongue-tie could help coax further improvement from KADO SACREE, who benefited from the step up to 2m3f when making a winning handicap debut at Carlisle last time and looks fairly treated off 3lb higher. Atlantic City, a stablemate of the selection, was a C&D winner last time under this rider and a 5lb rise leaves her still looking on a competitive mark. Lets Mingle was still in front when unseating last time and this consistent mare ought to go well once more.
Olly Murphy is well represented here with three runners and it's likely TRUST HOUSE will complete a hat-trick despite having a 8lb to overcome. He's really hit form of late and is the choice of Sean Bowen. Castle Ivers, ridden by James Bowen, could leave his reappearance behind and emerge as the danger, although last year's winner Just Dottie is respected also off the same mark this time around.
Just the six runners but this looks pretty open. Let's side with TANKING ALONG, who improved again when just denied at Kelso last time and goes from the same mark here. The 10yo Carrigeen Castle hit the line well at Hexham last time suggesting he can still win off this sort of mark and he rates the danger, while Sir Carnegie could easily go well dropped in trip having returned to form here last time.
Hold The Throw brings plenty of promise to bumpers having run well when runner-up in a maiden point in November and he's joined a good yard, but SEA TEMPEST is in receipt of 6lb and is taken to go two places better than when third on his debut at Southwell. That was a promising beginning, hitting the line well having travelled, and normal progress can see the 4yo off the mark. Saint Cunning and Killygowan are both respected on debut for their good Irish yard.
