Verdict
Barrow Boy had good support behind him on his introduction over C&D and, despite showing clear inexperience, there was a lot of encouragement to take from his close-up second. Even so, Aidan O'Brien unleashes a couple of likely types and Wayne Lordan's presence on board TANTARDINI suggests he is the one. The son of No Nay Never is out of Roly Poly, who won three times at the top level for the Ballydoyle team. Sergei Diaghilev is a bit more stoutly-bred as a full-brother to the stable's useful three-year-old Endorsement, but still warrants consideration. Fellow Wootton Bassett colt Tradewinds cost 220,000 euros so has to enter the equation as well.
Expert View Verdict
BARROW BOY shaped with plenty of promise for Gavin Cromwell when narrowly denied on debut here and, with natural improvement likely, sets a solid standard for the newcomers to aim at. Aidan O’Brien introduces two interesting runners, with jockey bookings suggesting Tantardini may be regarded as the stable’s first string as Wayne Lordan rides with Ryan Moore being at Newbury. He has a standout pedigree, being out of top-class mare Roly Poly, and commands obvious respect. Stablemate Sergei Diaghilev is also bred to be useful and would come as no surprise were he to make a bold start.
